Myself and my friend arrived in a very foggy Buxton at about 7pm, giving us time to park up and make our way to the theatre. We managed to park outside the park which has handy free parking after 6pm. Spaces here are limited but there is more parking available nearby.

We needed to collect our tickets from the foyer, and the gentleman that served us was very helpful and sorted them out promptly.

Because we still had a bit of time before the performance began we decided to go upstairs to the bar for a drink. We purchased a glass of wine, a hot chocolate and a bottle of water and it came to a total of £8, which I think is quite reasonable for theatre prices.

After our drinks we made our way back downstairs to locate our seats. On the way to our seats I purchased a programme, which was a very reasonable £2.50. We were sitting in the dress circle on seats D8 and D9 and we had a perfect view of the stage.

The performance started promptly at 7.30pm.

Neither of us had ever seen or knew the story of The Mousetrap, but the actors were brilliant and had us hooked from the beginning.

The scene is set inside an old guest house with a number of guests arriving throughout the first act. They get cut off by the snow and are unable to leave. Then things take a turn when they discover that one of them is a murdered, but who is????

The first half ended abruptly making me eager for the second half to begin. During the interval myself and my friend discussed who we each thought was the murderer…

The second half was just, if not more gripping than the first. It had me guessing throughout the production to whom the murderer could be and it wasn’t until the last scene that we found out ‘whodunit’!

The whole production was absolutely brilliant, the actors were all professional and played their parts with utter perfection.

If you haven’t already been to see Agatha Christie’s The mousetrap I would urge you to go.

Rating: 5/5 thumbs_up
