Ed Hardy: Tattoo the World is a documentary about Ed Hardy who beginnings as a tattoo artist has turned him into a multi-millionaire.
From a young child Don Edward Talbot Hardy (DETH) was very artistic and his art was encouraged by his mother. He grew up with a fascination of tattoos and as a 10 year old was “tattooing” other children using eyeliner and coloured pencils.
This documentary tells the story of his humble beginnings and failures as a tattoo artist, getting his first shop, meeting his wife when he did her first tattoo to becoming a huge success.
Overall, this is a very interesting documentary. I personally do not like tattoos but watching this and seeing the dedication and artistry of the tattooist show a very skilful art form if done correctly. Ed Hardy’s work is now found on merchandising in 70 shops worldwide and has turned him from a poor tattoo artist being supported by his wife to a multi-millionaire.
Whether you like or have an interest in tattoos this is a very informative documentary about an artist who puts his designs on skin rather that paper or canvas.
