I was asked to review the Calming Skin Therapy Cleanser from Aubrey Cosmetics. Now I have to admit that my usual skincare regime is pretty basic – and by basic I mean a daily clean on a night using a well-known brand of face wipes. This does the trick in terms of removing make up and daily build-up but I was looking forward to treating myself with something a little more indulgent.

This particular product advertises as a mild and soothing cleanser, made with 100% natural ingredients – which was good to know as I have found that my skin can be quite delicate and react to harsh products. It also includes sea aster extract to sooth stressed skin. I often find that after using my normal skincare wipes, my face can be quite red however this redness appeared to be significantly reduced and much calmer after using this cleanser.

It is quite a small bottle but as you only need a couple of pumps per use, I imagine that it will last a while, giving good value for money (more on that shortly!). It smooth’s across the skin well, does feel a little waxy, however washes off well and easily, leaving my skin feeling much cleaner and fresher than it does after my usual routine. My skin felt hydrated and super soft, I didn’t feel dried out at all and I didn’t need to use a moisturiser. It is recommended that you follow up with the Calming Skin Therapy toner which unfortunately I didn’t have, but as a standalone product I cannot fault it. There is a subtle aroma to the product, definitely not overwhelming and does smell very natural.

Easy to use, clear instructions and detailed ingredients on the box, it retails at £12.49 for the bottle, which after doing some homework is pretty much in line with other good quality cleansers and, as previously mentioned, a little goes a long way so I would expect a bottle to last a month or so. It is slightly more expensive than what I normally spend on skincare, hence the reason why I haven’t scored 5/5.

I will definitely use this product again and would happily recommend to anyone, in particular those who might have problems with redness or sensitive skin.
