Books Are My Bag Limited Edition Bag Review

Saturday the 8th October 2022 is Bookshop Day. This is a day to celebrate bookshops. Bookshop Day is a nationwide event that is intended to celebrate all book shops on the high street. This includes larger chain stores as well as all those wonderful independent book shops. The campaign hopes to highlight the cultural importance of both books and bookshops and is a day to celebrate those amazing people, the booksellers, that bring the two together. Bookshop Day first launched in 2013 and encourages book lovers to go enjoy shopping in their local book shops. Each year Books Are My Bag also designs a limited edition bag that can exclusively be purchased in bookstores – which is another great reason to get out and visit!

I am a book lover myself as well as my husband and our two children. We have bookshelves full of books. I was elated to receive this year’s limited edition bag. Plus it arrived just in time to use for book shopping today. I don’t need any more excuse than that to indulge in book browsing and shopping. So we went for a wander in the sun through our town stopping off to browse the book stores and try out my new tote bag.

This year’s bag has been designed by Jackie Morris who is a best selling author and illustrator of more than forty books. My first impression on receiving my bag was amazement at just how big it is. The bag measures around 43cm by 38cm. This is a very large tote bag perfect for carrying a lot of heavy books. The tote bag is made from 100% cotton canvas in cream with maroon handles and gusset. The handles are long making it easy to carry on the shoulder too. It is very well made and of high quality. We filled our bag with a lot of books and found it was strong and capable of handling the weight.

This year’s design is absolutely beautiful. One side of the bag is an adorable image of a fox curled up. The warm tones go lovely with the cream background and I think it looks rather Autumnal too. The other side features text printed mainly in black. The words ‘books’ ‘are’ ‘my’ and ‘bag’ are then in a shimmering gold text to spell out ‘Books Are My Bag’ which I think is a cleverly done, wonderful finishing touch.
