Balneum Dry Skin & Itch Relief Cream Review

Reviewed by Melody Floyde
Whilst Itch Relief Cream may not be number one on most people’s Christmas wish lists, for someone like me who suffers from dry itchy skin this could be the perfect stocking filler!
I was pleased to be asked to try out the Balneum Dry Skin & Itch Relief Cream as I have suffered from dry itchy skin on my arms and legs for many years which can be extremely irritating. I’ve tried many different lotions and potions over the years so was interested to see how Balneum would measure up. I was feeling optimistic as it makes big claims that it is “proven to relieve itch within 5 minutes”.
My first impressions of the Balneum cream were positive, the cream comes in a sturdy white plastic bottle with a pump-type dispenser. There was also a little removable plug in the hole of the dispenser to stop it leaking in transit which is a great idea and something more companies should consider using.
The bottle contains 200ml of Balneum cream which, from a bit of further investigation, I can see contains the active ingredients urea and lauromacrogols (not entirely sure what that is!). It’s aimed at people with itchy, dry to very dry skin and is suitable for use for eczema and psoriasis.
The cream itself is fragrance free and feels lovely and light. I have been using it on my legs twice a day for the last week and have been very impressed. The cream rubs in really easily and doesn’t leave much of a residue and what’s more it does actually work and makes my legs stop itching. Usually at this time of year, as the weather gets colder and the heating comes on, I scratch my legs to bits but so far so good and since I’ve started using the Balneum cream I’ve hardly noticed them itching at all. They are already looking a lot less dry too so I’m going to continue using this cream very happily!
One top tip I picked up was that the cream should be rubbed in using gentle downwards strokes as apparently rubbing vigorously up and down can actually trigger itching or block hair follicles. Although I have to confess, I did this initially and the cream still worked for me!
I have been really impressed with the Balneum cream and would definitely recommend it to anyone who suffers from itchy skin. As some of my family members also suffer from itchy skin in the winter, I’m going to make a bulk buy and give them all a bottle of the cream in their Christmas stockings, which I’m sure they’ll thank me for! I might even splash out and buy them some of the other products in the range as Balneum also sell a lotion, body wash and shampoo.
Balneum’s tag line is #itchlesslivemore and I can definitely say it lives up to this. It is so nice to be able to sit down and not automatically start scratching my legs in the evenings and I’m confident my legs are going to be looking great in time for my Christmas parties!
