The Bramingham (Luton) Review
The Bramingham

This evening my daughter, eight year old granddaughter and myself visited the Bramingham Pub in Luton.
The Bramingham re-opened early in 2011 following a refurbishment. It now offers a traditional British Carvery in addition to an extensive pub menu. What was a local pub now offers quality dining for families. It is warmly decorated and has a relaxing atmosphere. Although all the tables were continuously full while we were there, there was plenty of room to walk between them.
We were greeted by friendly staff and seated within minutes of our arrival and our drinks order taken. My granddaughter was given an activity sheet, which also contained the children’s menu, and a packet of crayons. She quickly chose fish and chips, then just as quickly changed her mind when she saw there was spaghetti bolognaise with garlic bread, and carrot and cucumber batons on the menu.
As my daughter and I had opted for a carvery meal, and had decided not to have a starter, we were told we would be taken to the Carvery just before my granddaughter’s meal was due to be served.

Tonight there was a choice of roast pork, beef or turkey, plus I think they said chicken and vegetable pie. My daughter decided on roast pork and beef and was offered a sausage, stuffing and a Yorkshire pudding with it. I chose the beef and turkey with the sausage, stuffing and Yorkshire pudding. We then had to choose our own vegetables and serve ourselves from a heated buffet.
There were roast, new and mashed potatoes, parsnips, carrots, red cabbage and swede. My daughter was disappointed there were no peas! The waitress had made a point of telling us the meat gravy was on the left and the onion gravy on the right. A separate table contained the condiments, cranberry jelly, mint sauce, horseradish, apple sauce, whole grain and normal mustard plus black pepper.
We returned to our table with our meals and my granddaughter’s spaghetti bolognaise was quickly served. She enjoyed eating the carrot and cucumber batons and garlic bread whilst waiting for the spaghetti bolognaise to cool. My turkey was lovely, but the beef was just so very tender, lean and tasty. I had chosen roast and mashed potatoes, my favourite red cabbage, plus carrots and meat gravy.
My daughter and I decided we couldn’t manage a dessert, but of course my granddaughter felt she could cope with chocolate cake and ice-cream. She ate the cake which was covered in chocolate sauce, but couldn’t manage the bowl of ice-cream which came with it.
Throughout the meal our waitress came to check if everything was okay, or if there was anything we needed.
As we were leaving the Manager, Noreen asked if everything had been okay, I told her my daughter was disappointed as there were no peas, she said we should have asked the chef!!!!
Whilst looking at the normal menu my daughter spotted her favourite lamb shank… I guess we will be visiting the Bramingham again so she can try it!!!
The Bramingham is very friendly pub restaurant and carvery where you can take the whole family, and offers a variety of reasonably priced meals and wine. It is well worth a visit but you might be advised to ring up and book a table at busy times!!!
