My youngest daughter is 6 months old and I have been baby wearing with her since she was just a few weeks, it has been amazing for us both she has been settled and happy close to me and I have been able to get on with what is needed in our busy household. At first we used a stretchy fabric sling which she and I both loved and now I am looking for something more substantial as she is getting heavier and more curious about the world.

I was sent the Chicco Boppy Comfyfit Baby Carrier to try and was excited to try give it a go in the hope to find something new that works for us both.

The carrier arrived in a cardboard box, no unnecessary plastics. I loved that it comes with a small pouch made of the same material, the carrier fits in so tidily so I can pack it away in my changing bag or anywhere close to hand and it’s kept clean and compact.

I was sent the navy Boppy which looked classy and practical. It also comes in grey and black. On first impressions I would describe the Boppy as a hybrid wrap sling meets carrier. The sling is easy enough to put on. It first clips around your waist and you then position your baby and put your arms through the shoulder loops, then cross the two long pieces of material behind your back and tie at the front, it may sound complicated but will be second nature to anyone who has previously used a sling. As with most things the more you use it the easier it gets.

So we trialled it out on a country walk with our babe, and I mean out in the sticks. I felt comfortable and she felt secure (even on the occasions I had to climb over styles) for a majority of the time she was asleep so I know she was happy and comfortable and for the rest she was happy to take a look around.

I was happy that she was in a healthy posture with her hips is a good position and spine in a nice natural curve.

I also tried front facing which is another option but she didn’t feel quite as comfortable or in as natural a position.

The sling can be used for babies from 3.5kg-15kg which is most new babies up to around the weight of a 4 year old so there’s plenty of longevity.

There is a handy zip pocket to pop in and small items you need close to hand.

After our very muddy walk which the sling did not escape, I tried it out in the washing machine. It washed perfectly on a 30 degree cycle and air dried quickly. It retained its shape and stretch and was as good as new afterwards.

The sling retails from various retailers, the cheapest I could find at the time of writing the review was from Amazon for £31.60, there are a lot of competitors on the market and I would say this is a great price and the product is comparable to other much more expensive versions. I like that it is a kind transition from a fabric sling, and would happily recommend to anyone on the lookout for a fuss free comfy baby carrier. I would say the comfyfit is true to its name.
