Vertbaudet Girl’s Lined Tulle 3-Tiered Skirt Review
Girl’s Lined Tulle 3-Tiered Skirt
Reviewed by Marianne Rowley
When I was asked to pick an outfit from the Vertbaudet collection, I decided to go for something that I wouldn’t normally go for. I had bought my daughter a t-shirt for her upcoming birthday in December with the number 3 on it in light grey and purple. Therefore, I was looking for a bottom to go with it. I found the Lined Tulle 3-Tiered Skirt which comes in 4 different colours: Gold, Grey-Purple, Midnight Blue and Powder Pink. I picked the Grey-Purple one to match the colour on her t-shirt. My daughter is quite tiny for her age. She is in size 2-3 clothes in general but some bottoms can be quite big on her. She has another tutu skirt from a different make in 2-3 which just falls of her hips (especially now that she doesn’t wear nappy). I looked at the size guide on the Vertbaudet website and measured her; she fell in between size 2 year old and 3 years old. Therefore, I decided to go for the smaller size rather than the bigger size as I would have been so disappointed if she hadn’t been able to wear it.
The parcel arrived very quickly and was well wrapped. The skirt was in a clear plastic bag. When I first saw the skirt, I really wasn’t sure about the material. I quickly realised that they were nothing wrong with it, just that I am not used to tulle. The full skirt is made with 100% polyester dotted tulle and is fully lined with a cotton voile. The website describes the skirt “Petticoat skirt with 3 dotted tulle ruffles, Gathered frills with raw-edged trim, Iridescent elasticated waistband, knee length”.
My daughter wore the skirt last Sunday as family was coming to visit us. I combined it with a purple top and some grey and purple tights. It fitted her perfectly. She absolutely loved wearing the skirt. It wasn’t itchy thanks to the voile underneath the skirt. It looked really cute on her. Her auntie thought she looked stunning. She then proceeded to drop orange juice all over it. That was a real shame but gave me the opportunity to see how it would fair in the wash.
The label says to wash at 30°c with similar colours and to iron on low heat. No tumble drying is allowed. So I followed the instructions, I hanged it up straight out of the washing machine and made sure to straighten up the voile. When it came to ironing it, it was fairly easy as I only needed to iron the bottom of the voile. The skirt is all ready to wear for her birthday but I have a feeling she will be wearing it at least one more time before that.
The skirt is quirky and unusual and I very pleased I picked it. I am hoping it will last her a few months thanks to the elasticated waistband!
