I visited T.G.I Friday’s at Glasgow Fort on Sunday 11 July 2015 at 4pm with my husband and 2 kids (ages 2½ years and 9 months).

Parking at the venue was plentiful as it is located within a shopping centre. The restaurant was well maintained and looked impressive with a large bar area and lots of memorabilia. The restaurant was clean as were the toilet areas. Music was loud but not blaring, as restaurant was busy this created a good atmosphere.

There was a table to be seated ahead of us when we arrived however an extra staff member came to the reception to seat us all quickly. We were seated in a booth, with comfortable sofas and a high chair was brought to the table for my daughter. At our table the kids were given a hat and an activity pack, which my son loved! The pack included an activity book with colouring and puzzles, a sticker and some colouring pencils.

We were given menus and advised that our waitress would be called Emma. After a few minutes, Emma came to the table to introduce herself and take our drink orders. I was unsure about finding kids drinks on the menu so Emma helpfully advised what was available and pointed the list out in the menu. We order a bottled water and a Gold Medalist smoothie along with a fruit shoot for my son. The smoothie was lovely.

We asked for a few minutes to peruse the menu which was no problem. The menu included appetisers such as mozzarella dippers, nachos, potato skins, chicken wings. For mains burgers, pasta, salads, fajitas and grill options amongst other things. The kids menu had a variety of pasta, burgers, fish fingers, chicken strips and hotdogs. When we placed our order (Starters – Chicken Skewers (£4.99), Sesame Chicken Strips (£5.99) Mains – 12oz Ribeye with Cajun Rice, Fries (£17.49) and King Prawn Skewer (£2 extra), Steak, Chicken & Shrimp with Fries, onion rings and veg (£18.99) Kids – Hamburger with fries (£3.49)) both myself and my husband asked if we could swap our fries for sweet potato fries which Emma advised was no problem however there would be a charge of 99p each. I also asked for the kid’s meal to be brought to the table with the starters which again was no problem.

After a short wait of 10 minutes, the starters arrived, as did the kid’s meal. Both starter dishes were very tasty and of a decent size. The kid’s hamburger was a generous size for my son and included a nice slice of tomato. Vegetable sticks are free with every kid’s meal however these did not arrive with the starters so after a few minutes I asked Emma if she could get us some of these. When they arrived there were red, yellow and green pepper sticks, cucumber, carrot and apple. My daughter loved nibbling on these. A few minutes after the food had arrived Emma checked that everything was ok and if we needed anything else.

Upon finishing our starters the plates were quickly cleared and our mains arrived ten minutes later. Again the food was tasty and portion sizes were generous. We had both asked for our steaks to be cooked medium. Both were slightly overdone however still enjoyable. The sweet potato fries were amazing! Chicken on the main was succulent and the shrimp, in a crispy Cajun batter was delicious. The veg was a mix of green beans, broccoli and red pepper. Both mains were served with a Jack Daniels Glaze which was yum! The king prawn skewer that we added for £2 was overcooked and unenjoyable. During the meal Emma advised that her shift was ending and introduced the new waitress who again asked if we needed anything else or more drinks.

When we had finished our main, the plates were cleared quickly again and we were asked if we would like anything else. We were offered deserts and coffee however we were full from our starters and mains. The desert menu includes sundaes, brownies, cakes and cheesecake. Our bill was brought promptly and the waitress asked if everything had been ok with the meal. My son was offered a balloon which the waitress impressively made into a dog at our table.

The experience was an enjoyable one for us all. The staff were attentive and polite. I would definitely return to this branch of TGI Fridays and would recommend the restaurant giving it an overall score of 4 out of 5.

Rating: 4/5
