Sylvanian Families Village Cake Shop Review

Sylvanian Families toys have been available for a long time, I remember hankering after them as a small girl and yet somehow this is the first set I’ve ever owned.

The Village Cake Shop arrived in a suitably exciting large box printed all over with suggested configurations for the cake shop and for the cake displays. The instructions for assembly are printed on top of the box and unpacking and building the 85 pieces into the finished article was as much fun as any time spent playing with it later. The detail of the tiny cakes and tarts is wonderful and the fact that they are all interchangeable and can be displayed on different stands and doilies makes for a great many hours of happy play even before my 4-year-old daughter gets involved.

I assembled the cake shop in the evening, this mainly involves building tiny cake boxes and putting the miniature decorations onto the cakes. My daughters look of disbelief in the morning that this tiny village shop had appeared in her bedroom overnight with the Toy Poodle mother, who is included with the set, standing in the window icing a cake was a delight to behold. She thought it was magic, as though the fairies had left it, so complete is the detail.

Included with the Village Cake Shop is a tiny story book which tells the story of the celebration cake in the window and provides a great starting point to fire the imagination.

Sylvanian Families is my new favourite toy and this is the perfect set for me; I love cakes, I love baking, it’s my secret dream to own a cake shop and so I have had no trouble whatsoever playing with this toy for hours on end, my daughter feels the same! The Sylvanian Families Village Cake Shop is the most exciting toy in our house, we absolutely love it and can’t wait to add to our collection of Sylvanian Families figures, we’ve already identified a local stockist!
