Stirrd Subscription Box Review

Valentine's Day 2020 Gift Idea

Reviewed by Catherine Joyce

Anyone who knows me knows that I have a real sweet tooth so when I was asked if I would like to review a Stirrd subscription box to say I was thrilled was an understatement!

I hadn’t heard of Stirrd before, so before my subscription box arrived I had a quick look on their website to see what sort of treats I could expect to find in the box. The website is easy to use and is full of amazingly tempting looking images of fudge that really made my mouth water. I was really looking forward to receiving my box and fortunately I didn’t have long to wait.

The box I received contained three different sweet treats. Pink drizzle salted caramel fudge, white chocolate chilli honeycomb and shimmer cherry chocolate brownie fudge. The sweets are packaged in plastic trays which are inside an easy to open plastic resealable bag. The sweets sit nicely in the cardboard box and look very inviting once you lift the lid. The box fitted easily through my letterbox which was a bonus. Included in the box is a list of ingredients along with nutritional information.

Stirrd have a couple of different subscriptions to choose from to suit all budgets and needs. You can choose a one-off box for £11.99, a 3-monthy subscription for £34.99 or you can splurge on a 6-monthly one for £67.99 giving you a small saving over the 6 months. Postage is free on all subscriptions. The boxes are different each month, but each will contain three treats, some proper fudge, a flavour of the month fudge and another sweet treat that could be milk chocolate coated butterscotch, honeycomb, peanut brittle, mallows or coconut squares. They all sound delicious and showcase what these talented sweet makers can do.

So what did I think of the sweets?

The pink drizzle salted caramel fudge was absolutely delicious, full of a buttery caramel flavour it tasted just like the fudge my mum used to make when we were children. Stirrd make their fudge in old copper pans to enhance the flavour and this fudge just melted in the mouth. There were 8 pieces in the pack which I have to say didn’t last long as they were so moreish!

I’m not usually a fan of chilli and chocolate together so I was pleasantly surprised by the white chocolate chilli honeycomb. The honeycomb is handmade and coated in white chocolate before being dusted with chilli flakes to spice up the flavour. The chunks are a nice size and generously coated in smooth white chocolate with the added chilli giving a slight but not unpleasant kick to the sweet.

My favourite was the shimmer cherry chocolate brownie fudge. The minute I opened the packet the amazing chocolatey aroma mixed with a hint of cherry escaped and hit my senses and I couldn’t wait to try one. With a pink shimmer making the fudge look very eye catching this fudge not only looks good but tastes fantastic too. The addition of cherries to this very chocolatey fudge hits all the right notes and I whilst I shared the other flavours with my husband this one would have been wasted on him as he isn’t a huge chocolate fan, so I have to confess to keeping it all to myself!

With Valentine’s Day coming up this would make a lovely gift for your loved one, or why not just treat yourself, you won’t be disappointed!
