Star Wars: Empire and Rebellion Honor Among Thieves by James S. A. Corey Review

Reviewed by Anthony Curson

I received this book to review, as a lifelong Star Wars fan, I was very eager to read this even though the new licence holders (Disney) have recently declared that the expanded universe, in which this book is set, is now no longer canon with what happens in the films.

The book is set between Episode IV (A New Hope) and Episode V (The Empire Strikes Back) and is in familiar territory as the books main protagonists are the notorious smuggler turned reluctant hero Han Solo and his Wookie co-pilot Chewbacca, as the action unfolds they are tasked by Princess Leia with the simple job of collecting a rebel spy from an undercover mission. However the simple task quickly becomes difficult as the rebel spy holds information which could drastically alter the balance of power throughout the galaxy.

What follows next is your typical rip-roaring adventure involving life and death chases, ambushes and double-crosses that would satisfy most action-adventure fans, the story flows nicely and is easy to read and follow, the characters involved are well fleshed out and not at all 2 dimensional.

I enjoyed reading the book and it is a welcome addition to my bookshelf, I only have one tiny niggle about this book, and, I must stress that this is from my inner Star Wars nerd and your average reader would not even notice an issue. My niggle is (and I do apologise for being geeky about this) there is an alien race mentioned on one page that, at the time this book is set, no-one should know about (there I told you it was geeky!).
