Sonic Prime Plush Backpack Review

I have been lucky enough to be able to review the Sonic Prime Plush backpack for What’s Good to Do.  Sonic the hedgehog is an iconic, classic character remembered fondly by adults, played by gamers, and loved by children thanks to the Sonic Prime series on Netflix.  In the show Sonic has to battle his why though several different universe’s in order to fix his own this is where he meets different versions of himself.  The Sonic prime plush backpack is a part of the merchandise available for the series.  I have the blue original Sonic, however there are 4 in the collection, the others are Sonic supersonic, Knuckles sonic and Shadow sonic.

First of all, I love the bright blue colour and the brilliant resemblance to Sonic.  The backpack is approximately 30cm in height.  It has good strong stitching and two blue strong adjustable nylon weave straps.  Sonics head is large in comparison to the rest of his body, its very soft and well padded, the large head gives the backpack an extra dimension.  The plush material is lovely and soft, brilliant vibrant colours and great quality.  Sonics arms and legs are thin, soft and are printed with gloves and boots to match his on-screen character.  There is a small, zipped pocket in Sonic’s back. Its not huge, but it is a travel backpack.  As a small pocket you cannot fit a lot in, however I did manage to fit my mobile phone in, and my purse on a separate occasion.  The good thing is its zipped so whatever you do manage to fit in will be secure.

As Sonic Prime is a series aimed at children on Netflix, I thought I had better give it to my five-year-old niece to test out.  My niece is a huge fan of Sonic and has a great imagination, so Sonic became a doll for the afternoon, she loved the characterization of the backpack as well as how soft and cuddly it was.  My niece managed to fit a small doll and a packet of sweets in the back pocket, which she liked because she could hide her sweets from her sisters!!  After numerous summersaults and being thrown around the room imitating Sonic the bag and the stitching held up very well.  The backpack is easy to clean with wet wipes, or you can hand wash it with minimal colour leakage.

My three nieces aged between 5 and 16 years old tried the backpack on for size, due to the adjustable straps it fit all three.  They did look funny with Sonic the hedgehog on their backs.  The three girls loved the backpack but the youngest claimed it.

The Sonic Prime plush backpack is unisex and would appeal to a host of genres.  Everyone from children, gamers, and collectors of retro Sonic.  Manufacturers do recommend that it only be used for anyone over 18 months old, hand wash only, not suitable for a machine wash.

Due to the retro statues of Sonic the hedgehog the Sonic Plush Prime backpack will make a great birthday or Christmas present to a variety of people and ages.

When rating the Sonic Prime plush backpack I thought about the quality, likeness to the character, how much my nieces enjoyed it, as well as the practicality of the backpack, for this reason I give the Sonic Prime Plush backpack 4/5.
This is because I would have liked a slightly bigger pocket.
