Slumberdown Climate Control Bedding Review

Reviewed by David Savage

The nights are certainly getting warmer and balmier. Even the nights when it has been raining have been quite warm recently. While we all enjoy a bit of heat, while we are trying to sleep, too much heat can be really uncomfortable. As we are coming into summer it’s time to start changing those heavy winter duvets for lighter and cooler ones.

I prefer to sleep under a duvet, even in summer, rather than on top on it or without a cover. My current duvet is a nice and cosy 13.5 tog, which is too heavy for the summer months, so I need to change my duvet to a cooler and lighter one.

Slumberdown are the sleep experts and have a wide range of duvets and pillows to suit all needs. We received a double duvet and pillows from their Climate Control range, both of which are just perfect for summer.

Slumberdown’s Climate Control range of duvets and pillows are designed to keep you at just the right temperature, not too hoot or too cold. The Climate Control range features Advansa Advanced Fibre Technology system and soft touch covers to keep you at the optimum temperature while sleeping, ensuring that you get a restful night’s sleep.

The pillows I received when medium firmness. Depending on how you sleep, you do need to get the right firmness level. I am a side sleeper so medium or firm is perfect for me (if you sleep on your front, a soft pillow would be better). The covers are 100% polyester with a soft touch and have a 100% polyester filling. They are really soft to touch but supportive when resting your head on them.

The duvet is a double (also available in a single or king size) and is 4.5 tog (also available in 10.5 tog). It is a thin duvet with a very soft to touch microfibre cover. Again 100% polyester cover and filling with the Advansa system. Machine washable at 40 degrees.

After using the pillows and duvet for 2 nights I am very impressed. They are both very comfortable and do a great job of keeping me at just the right temperature (I overheat very quickly and the pillows and duvet have been perfect for taking away any excess heat and moisture from my head and body), I don’t get too hot or too cold. I thought that the 4.5 tog would be too thin, but it is perfect. The pillows are supportive and are so far keeping their shape (I seem to have a very heavy head when sleeping and ruin pillows somehow, if they are good quality).

The pillows and duvet are very well made. The duvet may be light but it does exactly what it says it does, and as Slumberdown say “Perfect when the heat is on… or off!”

After being so impressed with the quality of this duvet I will now seriously consider Slumberdown’s All Seasons duvet which has a 4.5 and a 10.5 tog duvet which combine to give a 15 tog duvet, giving 3 duvets in one and the best for all seasons.

I am very impressed with the quality, comfort and warmth. Slumberdown’s Climate Control bedding is perfect for summer. It works really well at managing sleeping temperature ensuring a really comfortable and relaxing night. I’m much more comfortable at night and more refreshed in the morning.
