After the dark winter months it is so nice to see the spring colours and flowers appear, a feeling that is reflected in this toy as the set is bursting with spring flowers and colours and looks so cute even before it was opened.
In the box you get
1 x greenhouse/display stand
6 x plant pots
1 x bag of modelling compound
6 x bags of colouring powder
3 x bottles of perfume
6 x charms
6 x bags of decorations
1 x spade
1 x sheet of stickers 81
The plant pot models are quite straight forward to build by looking at the pictures on the box but there is also a short YouTube video to guide you through accessible vis a QR code on the back of the box.
First the white modelling compound needs to be divided into 6, one for each plant pot then the colouring power is added and kneaded into the compound until the colour is evenly spread, then the perfume is added and kneaded in. The compound is now ready to be piled into the plant pot and a charm and decorations added to create a lovely colourful plant. When completed these can be displayed in the open fronted greenhouse, it looks so cute, the compound hardens as it dries so the whole thing becomes a lovely decoration that could be put in a child’s room.
Our 7 year old absolutely loved this activity she looked at the pictures on the box to match up the colours but did her own thing with the decorating, she really enjoyed writing names on the sticky labels to put on the shelf in the greenhouse, the adding of the perfume was a new feature that she’d never done before and I think it gave the whole thing a more grown up feel, the perfume is very light we mixed some of them together just out of curiosity and that was a lot of fun.
Some things I would like to highlight.
Contrary to the wording on the packaging this is not slime but a type of soft fluffy modelling clay that dries hard so cannot be remodelled like slime.
Be careful when opening the colouring power it’s easy to spill it everywhere, luckily it doesn’t stain but I would be sure to cover the surface you are working on with a cloth to make the clearing up easier.
Not sure what the little spade was for we didn’t use it.
The biggest problem I had was removing the greenhouse from the packaging.
This is a lovely set to encourage creative sensory play, the results are very impressive and easy to achieve.
Could be used between two or three children having a play date for an activity that would last about an hour.
Made by Canal Toys this would be a perfect Easter gift if you’re looking for something that will last longer than a chocolate egg or an Easter birthday.
Suitable for ages 6 and up, priced at £12.99
