This XS Helicopter from Revell is a great remote controlled helicopter for beginners.
On opening the box I found a small helicopter, measuring 8.5cm long weighing 18g, a handheld control unit, a USB charging cable and manual. I immediately pugged the cable into the helicopter and into my computers USB port to charge it up. I then added 6 AA batteries to the control unit and waited for the helicopter to charge.
After 35 minutes (as stated in manual) my helicopter was ready to fly. A 35 minute charge will give you 5-7 minutes of flying time. After use you need to let the battery on the helicopter cool down for 10-15 minutes before charging again so not to cause any damage to the battery.
Off I went into the garden to try out the helicopter and nearly lost it – the controls are sensitive so be careful. If has taken me a few days to get used to the controls but now am able to fly it without nearly losing it or smashing it into walls and the concrete floors. The helicopter even has a bright LED searchlight!
The control unit has 3 channels so there should be no problems with interference.
Overall, this is a great little toy. Although it is small it is very sturdy and mine is still in one piece despite my poor attempts while learning to control it and smashing it into everything. It is the perfect introduction to flying remote control toys and is perfect for indoor use.
Read the instructions in the user manual before starting as it does give some great operating instructions.
As I still haven’t broken it despite several “crashes and collisions” it is excellent quality and great value for money. It takes a bit a practice to fly it so you will need patience but it is great fun.
