We have several different animal and people puppets at home but I had never heard of Puppets by Post brand before so was keen to be able to add to our collection. I was pleasantly surprised to receive two puppets when my review items arrived; a giraffe and tiger. They also arrived very quickly so I can imagine this would be the case for all online orders and therefore I will definitely be remembering this as an option for a last minute birthday gift to send directly (as well as a more organised one to be wrapped and given!).

From a look on their easily browsed website, the tiger I received is the ‘Tiger CarPet Glove Puppet’ and part of the range designed for use both in and out of car journeys. To be honest I’m not entirely sure how they differ to the other puppets in regards to making them more useable in the car but they would certainly help keep little ones entertained during a journey. The giraffe I received was labelled as the ‘Giraffe CarPet Glove Puppet’ however the puppet that I received actually looks more like the ‘Giraffe Long Sleeved Puppet’ in terms of design and colouring but with a shorter neck and a closed mouth. It is very endearing and well designed so this isn’t a problem but I do tend to like to know exactly what an item I purchase would look like from the image on the website. Both are part of the African animals collection (a little confusing seeing as tigers are not found naturally in Africa), and as that suggests there are collections for all animal lovers from artic to amphibian.

Both puppets are beautiful quality, with soft exteriors and hand pockets well sized for child or adult hands. The animals are well portrayed and as accurate as I think any soft toy can really be! I was impressed at the level of details included such as the sewn on paw pads and tail on the tiger, as well as the longer eye lashes and mane on the giraffe. The brands name label is sewn onto each puppet and looks stylish. We actually have a lion puppet from one of the most well known London brands and toy stores and I am impressed to say that I think these puppets actually rival it well and are a few pounds cheaper which is always a bonus.

I had a browse on the ‘Puppets by post’ website and could have spent hours looking at their HUGE range of puppets and soft toys. From hand to finger puppets, large and small, animals to people; the range is certainly extensive! You can even buy clothing and accessories for your puppets or puppets made especially for babies and toddlers. They also have a new range of eco soft toys and puppets where each is made from material that is 100% recycled or biodegradable. One of my favourite ranges were the book and puppet sets where well known children’s story books have had the key characters created as representative puppets and can be purchased as a set including the book (and a storage bag!).

I was impressed by the quality of the designs and puppets as well as the brands impressive range. I think the speed and ease of purchase from the website also makes them an ideal gift item and are suitable for children 12 months and over. Orders over £10 have free postage included which means most items wouldn’t have additional charges either.
