Arriving in Manchester we headed for the Opera House which is located on Quay Street close to Deansgate in the city centre. Walking up to the theatre; the excitement started to rise as we knew we had arrived at our destination with the bright lights, large colourful billboards and the cast in amazing outfits welcoming its audience to their show.

Inside we found our seats easily and the lights go down, the disco balls start to spin and the music surrounds the audience; as the fun begins…

Duncan James sets the scene stripping off to reveal a well- toned, tattooed physique giving David Beckham a run for his money, he changes from his character ‘Tick’ to his drag queen alter ego of Mitzi Mitosis, supporting killer heels, a corset and looking absolutely fabulous darling!! The adventure begins with his two drag queen friends Felicia and Bernadette and their bus called ‘Priscilla’ which will take them across the desert on an amazing and emotional journey.

Each scene is full of high energy songs and the characters are joined by an array of cast members in vivacious and  flamboyant costumes delivering disco classics like ‘Go West’,  ‘Hot Stuff’, ‘Girls Just Wanna Have Fun’ and  ‘I Will Survive’ to name a few . The three divas hovering above the stage bellow out the tunes with their powerful voices. Flamboyant and fabulous is what this show has to offer there are plenty of hits that will have you singing along!!

Get your glad rags on laugh, sing and be ready for ‘blue’ innuendos which the audience loved, the story does take some cynical twists and turns when the three drag queens face prejudices, a range of emotions and you are swept along with their individual journeys of life as a drag queen.

A five star show and an amazing night at the theatre, so if you have not seen it yet, let your hair down and treat yourself and board ‘ Priscilla Queen of the Desert’.
