Prezzybox Afternoon Tea for Two at Patisserie Valerie with Cake Gift Box Review

Reviewed by Laura Wragg
The Prezzybox voucher arrived with an e-code to be used to book online which was very simple to do, it was choosing who to take with me which was the tricky part! Living in Brighton, my local Patisserie Valerie was in Hove (there are 86 different locations that this voucher can be used in) so, having decided to treat my Mum, we had a lovely walk along the seafront before indulging in lots of cakes. Patisserie Valerie is located in a lovely part of Hove full of old architecture and is within a really beautiful building with original features. Upon arriving it was quite busy and we were a bit early. I explained we had booked but we were early and they were nothing but accommodating. We decided to sit upstairs, which was almost empty, so we did worry that we may get forgotten with it being so busy downstairs but we were very wrong.
Our waiter arrived with our afternoon tea menus and was very welcoming and humorous. We felt very relaxed He explained what we would be having and took our order for hot drinks. Our teas arrived in lovely Suki tea pots which held 2-3 cups of tea each and we had plenty of milk served in individual milk jugs. The waiter returned with our starters of mini vegetable quiches which were warm and full of flavour. When we had finished these the waiter checked that we were ok and asked if we’d like our sandwiches and cakes. We were more than happy to move straight on and enjoy more tea as we waited.

The stand arrived with an amazing selection of savoury, sweet and scones. Alongside the stand were silver tongs for us to pick up our delicious treats which was lovely finishing touch. The savoury sandwich selection was; cucumber on white bread, smoked salmon & cream cheese on brown bread, egg mayonnaise & cress on brown bread, ham, spinach & mustard on white bread and chicken, pesto & sun blazed tomatoes on brown bread. The selection was perfect for us but they can cater for any allergy or dietary requirements if needed. All the sandwiches were very fresh and the bread was lovely and soft. There was plenty of filling and they were all full of flavour and seasoned well. The waiter checked in to see if we were ok and needed anything at all. He was very attentive and we didn’t get forgotten at all.
From the sandwiches we moved on to the fresh, warm scones which smelt delicious. We had 2 fruit and 2 plain scones which came with a large pot of clotted cream and a choice of 4 jams served on their own stand. The waiter let us know that if we needed any more cream or jam than just to ask! He offered us more tea and, although the upstairs was also filling up, we did not feel we were being rushed at all and were made to feel comfortable and relaxed the whole time.
We were finally onto the patisserie selection after over an hour of eating! To choose from we had miniatures of; Victoria sandwich, chocolate eclairs, carrot & walnut slice, mixed berry mousse slice and double chocolate mousse slice. Every cake was fresh, flavoursome and the perfect size to finish of the experience. We took our time and relaxed with our tea as we enjoyed the cakes and were checked on to make sure we were ok or if we needed anything.

When we had finally finished the waiter told us we could pick which cakes we wanted to take home from the selection in the display cabinets downstairs. We had forgotten about those so they were a nice surprise at the end although we knew we’d be sharing those with the rest of the family after all the delicious treats we’d had already. Our take home box was 4 slices of the large cakes and we had a choice of any that were on display. It was an amazing selection and were gift wrapped beautifully in a box with lots of ribbon. If you didn’t want to eat them yourself they’d make a great gift for family or friends!
This is a fantastic gift package from Prezzybox for friends and family and one that I will be highly recommending to others.
