I was chosen to review Pop Factor to the Grove Theatre, Dunstable on Wednesday night and what a brilliant show it was. We arrived at the theatre car park to find there were lots of free parking spaces. We walked the short distance to the theatre foyer which was buzzing with very excited families and collected our tickets from the friendly staff. We were shown to our seats which gave us a brilliant view of the stage. The audience was made up of small children up to grandparents who were all chattering excitedly and waiting for the curtain to go up. When it did there was lots of very loud applause, the set was a copy of the X-Factor show from the television, which got everyone excited.
The show started with 4 young guys singing and dancing and they were then joined by 4 young ladies who were also singing and dancing. They all sang and danced brilliantly with great moves and loads of personality. They sang various chart songs which got everybody singing along and the majority of the audience were even on their feet dancing. I lost count of the amount of costume changes throughout the whole show and each change was full of colour and sparkle.
They all interacted with the audience and came down to the aisles and joined in with the ones who were dancing. It was a very exciting for 4 members of the audience who were called up on stage as they had a birthday in this month. They were sung to and everybody wished them a Happy Birthday and were each given a special birthday balloon.
While the singing was going on gigantic balloons were tossed into the audience for everybody to try and keep in the air, going from side to side. It was great fun!
There was a short interval and the team were back on stage with as much energy as the first half performance. In this half children were picked from the audience to take part in a dance competition which also included audience participation. There were no losers as they all got a Pop Factor poster from the team.
We were then introduced to NKB Dance School. The children are all local and danced with the cast on stage to the tune ‘Happy’. It was brilliant, they all danced so well you would have thought that they were professional dancers and it finished to rapturous applause.
The cast went on to sing more songs with more costume changes and thoroughly entertain the audience.
We loved the show and so did everybody else, we would recommend it as a fun family evening out and will definitely be going next year.
