PLAYMOBIL Fire Engine Review
PLAYMOBIL Fire Engine

I was delighted to be chosen to review the PLAYMOBIL Fire Engine (no 4821) and eagerly awaited its delivery. As soon as you see the distinctive PLAYMOBIL box with such detailed pictures and information you know you are getting a good traditional toy.
Luckily I opened the box before I decided to let my grandchildren have a play as there were many parts which needed to be assembled before the toy was ready to be played with – this would have been very difficult to do with ‘little hands’ helping!
Once constructed however, I could see what a sturdy, well-made toy it was – certainly made to withstand an inquisitive child’s handling.
My grandchildren aged 3 and 4 loved it and immediately set about pretend play – racing off to tackle fires with the blue lights flashing (these are battery operated and require 2xAA batteries). It was lovely to see them engrossed in imaginative play – helped by a vast selection of ‘ extras’ such as tools, hoses, fire extinguishers and road cones. The working winch on the front of the engine was a certain favourite with Finley (aged 4) whereas Toby (aged 3) loved the flashing lights and the fireman figure which he was able to place in the engine (although it’s a shame the door doesn’t open!).
This is a lovely toy which I am sure will last and remain a favourite for many years. It can be added to other PLAYMOBIL sets to further enhance a child’s creative and imaginative play. It does mention on the box that it can be used with the remote control module which you buy separately but there is no information as to what this actually does!
A good, well produced toy worthy of a 4.5 star rating.
