As someone who adores chocolate—particularly Belgian chocolate—I was genuinely excited when the Pierre Marcolini Praline Hearts arrived for review.

Belgian chocolate already sets a high standard, and I was eager to see whether these beautifully presented praline hearts lived up to the luxurious reputation of Belgian chocolate.

The experience began before I even tasted a bite. The chocolates arrived in an elegant white box with subtle gold trim, immediately giving the impression of a premium, high end product.

When I lifted the lid, I found two smaller boxes nestled inside, each decorated in the same minimalist style, with clean black lettering. This instantly reminded me of a certain iconic French fashion house whose name resembles “channel”. It’s the kind of packaging that makes you feel you’re opening something special, and it certainly sets the stage for an indulgent treat.

Inside each small box was a single praline heart, each weighing a generous 90 grams. The hearts themselves were visually stunning, crowned with a glossy, deep-red topping that gave them a jewel like appearance. They looked almost too beautiful to eat—but I had to tuck right in!

My first impression was that the sweetness level was noticeably lower than your typical corner shop chocolate bar. At first, I wasn’t sure how I felt about that, as we’ve been conditioned to expect a certain sugary punch from everyday chocolate.

But as I continued taking small bites, I found myself increasingly appreciating the more subtle, refined flavour profile. It felt like “grown up chocolate”.

Biting into the layers of praline revealed a beautiful mix of textures and flavours. Hazelnut is the star ingredient, and it comes through immediately with both taste and crunch. There was also a delicate hint of salt that balanced the richness of the chocolate perfectly. The overall effect was complex yet harmonious. The second praline layer included nuts and black sesame seeds and a crispy wafer element, creating that perfect combination of smooth and crunchy in every mouthful.

I’ll admit, my first bite made me pause—both the flavour and texture were different from what I initially expected. But after a few more tastes, my opinion shifted. It became clear that this was not a sugary mass market treat but a thoughtfully crafted piece of chocolate.

By the time I reached the last bite, I was completely sold. This was absolutely a luxurious indulgence, and it felt like a true quality product from start to finish.

As a Valentine’s Day gift, the Pierre Marcolini Praline Hearts are made for the occasion. The heart shape, the deep-red glossy top, and the elegant packaging all combine into a gift that looks romantic, thoughtful, and refined. The price also feels appropriate for a premium but still accessible offering—ideal for someone who wants to give something special without venturing into overly extravagant territory.

I’ll confess, I ate my entire portion in one sitting. Not because I was hungry, but because once I started, I genuinely couldn’t put it down!

Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed the Pierre Marcolini Praline Heart. If you prefer very sweet chocolate, this might not be your perfect match. But if you appreciate a more balanced, luxurious, expertly crafted treat, then this praline heart is absolutely worth trying—or gifting.
