The Peter Rabbit series is a firm favourite in this house so I was very excited to review this product; knowing that my 3 year old boy would love it. It certainly did not disappoint him with the choice of 8 different episodes and an additional bonus one. The tales of Peter’s adventures with his friends kept my sons attention throughout and even caught the eye of my 8 month old with the lovely colours, smooth animation and the very catchy theme tune that, I guarantee  you’ll be singing for days.

You have the option to play the DVD through, which is a handy option when you want to keep the little uns’ entertained for longer than an episode, which is approximately 20 minutes long. Alternatively, you can choose individual episodes which my son loves to do. Each story is engaging and had us on the edge of our seats at times as we rooted for Peter succeed in his latest endeavour to escape or rescue or help his friends.

I have to admit though as an adult I was expecting all the episodes to have a feel of Christmas about them, given the title of the DVD. Although its only October I was hoping to start feeling Christmassy and festive after watching it through. I was disappointed however, that apart from the first episode there’s really no reference to Christmas and even my little boy asked if there was any more snow on it.

With a retail price of £7.99 it is great value to get so many episodes but don’t be misled by the title. It’s not a DVD I would automatically reach for at Christmas to watch beside the tree, whilst eating mince pies and wearing my reindeer jumper, but it is a great one for all year round and I know that my little boy will ask for it again and again as will his sister as she gets older. So for that reason I’m giving this DVD 3 out of 5.
