We took our twin boys to see Peppa Pig Surprise at the Grove Theatre in Dunstable. We saw the 1pm performance and it was a full house. Most children looked aged 3 or 4 with a few younger / older.
Last time I saw Peppa Pig Live was 3 years ago, it has changed and improved since then. The show is with “puppets”. They are now much bigger so the puppeteer’s don’t distract from the show.
The basic story is about a trip to the seaside. It is colourful and fun with singing, dancing and audience participation. We were 6 rows from the front and in the “wet zone!” – every time George cried and at bath time!
Overall the show was suitable for the target audience. It kept our boys attention and had them smiling the whole time. They were so excited and full of it for the rest of the day. We have been watching slot of Peppa Pig today to say the least.
We knew there was going to be merchandise available to buy at the theatre which is always on the pricey side at these kind of events so were prepared! We bought 2 light up toys when we got there at £7.50 each and after 2 dinosaur helium balloons at £6 each – sadly one of the lights broke in the car on the way home and one balloon was deflated this morning. The only disappointing bit about our trip.
Overall it is a good starting point for young children to try out the theatre and we would go again.
