I am a bit of a true crime or crime psychological thriller kind of woman to be honest, politics rarely interest me (I know I’m sorry!) But when this was offered I thought it was a great opportunity to try something a little different and boy was I glad I did. It started off a little heavy with the politics but I was soon invested with the characters and then finding out what was going on. I read this book in 3 days as I just needed to know what was going on and who was watching us and why!
I have asked for the other two books for Christmas and I think they would make a great trilogy to give to an avid reader as a present this Christmas.
Here’s my review of the book.
Lou Gilmond’s Palisade is a gripping tech thriller that will keep you on the edge of your seat. Even if you haven’t read the first book in the series, this standalone novel is a thrilling ride that will leave you eager to dive into the others. It’s a catnip-laced thriller that’ll have you hooked from the first page. It’s got all the juicy bits: complex characters you’ll love to hate (or hate to love), plot that twists and turns like a snake weaving its way across the land, and a sprinkle of tech-thriller magic.
Imagine a world where your every move is watched, your thoughts aren’t your own, and a shadowy cabal of power players pulls the strings. Sounds familiar, right? Well, Palisade takes this nightmare scenario and cranks it up to eleven.
The story is set in a world where technology has advanced to the point where it can be used to manipulate and control people. Gilmond expertly weaves a tale of intrigue, suspense, and political manoeuvring, all while exploring the dangers of unchecked power and the erosion of privacy.
It feels like the most terrifying dystopian nightmare, as is a common theme in science fiction and thriller novels, where technology is used to control and manipulate individuals. The characters are complex and relatable, making it easy to root for them as they navigate a world of deception and danger. The pacing is fast-paced, and the plot is full of twists and turns that will keep you guessing until the very end.
Gilmond is a master of suspense, dropping breadcrumbs of doubt that’ll keep you guessing until the final page. The way she weaves in the dangers of AI is both chilling and all too real. It’s like a warning from the future, wrapped in a thrilling package.
If you’re a fan of thrillers, science fiction, or political dramas, Palisade is a must read. It’s a thought-provoking and entertaining novel that will leave you wanting more.
So, if you’re looking for a book that’ll make you question everything you know, and maybe even give you a few sleepless nights, Palisade is the perfect choice. Just don’t blame me if you start checking under your bed for surveillance drones.
