I was asked to review the Morphy Richards Fastbake 48280 Bread Maker which I have always wanted to try. I have had other bread makers in the past and have used them quite extensively. I have had a Morphy Richards one before too and always liked it more than the other brands for the simple reason the recipes are so easy to follow.
The packaging it came in wasn’t over the top, just the basics so no un-recyclable wastage and the instruction manual included all the great recipes I remember. I couldn’t wait to get started so had already decided on my first loaf before it was even out of the box.
I followed the instructions on prep before first use which was simple enough and didn’t involve ‘baking’ the bread maker beforehand, just a simple hot soapy wash and it was ready to go. I chose the Italian Herb Bread loaf to begin with and within 2 minutes of following the simple instructions (using the provided cup and tea/table spoon measures) my first loaf was on its way. Now to wait 3 hours before it’s ready… but what a wait, it was delicious and devoured by the family within minutes.
My next attempt was the simple white loaf on the Fastbake function, again following the easy instructions the loaf was in the bread maker tin within a couple of minutes and an hour later out popped another delicious loaf – this time we used this one for sandwiches the next day and although normally bread maker made bread doesn’t last very long due to the lack of preservatives, it did last us 3 days with us finishing off using it as toast.
A couple of days later we tried the Pizza Dough option and I was pleasantly surprised as the dough was spongy but not wet so was easy to knead when I took it out of the tin. Following the instructions in the manual meant within about 2 hours, we had perfectly usable Pizza Dough and couldn’t have had more praise for the outcome.
Finally we tried the walnut bread recipe and again after following the simple instructions – adding the nuts when the bread maker beeped during the process – the bread came out smelling divine, firm and moist.
The cleaning is quick and easy to do, just pop out the tin and blade, soak them for a few minutes in warm soapy water, wipe and rinse through. The cup and spoon measures shouldn’t go in the dishwasher though as they can lose their shape but a quick swill and rinse and they’re clean to use again.
I am just loving the compliments I am receiving for my delicious homemade bread making skills. Thanks to Morphy Richards, I don’t think I’ll ever change my brand again. I would highly recommend this bread maker, giving is 5 out of 5.
