On the year of the sad news that original Monkees cast member, Davy Jones passed away – the new hit musical, Monkee Business gets its World Premiere in Manchester.

How lucky were we to be invited to press night?!

The story is of four young lads who reply to an advert in a newspaper but are tricked into impersonating the 60’s infamous band, The Monkees! The boys set off an a world tour and find themselves falling in love, meeting sexy Russian Spies and many more bizarre characters in a mad cap plot in the style of Austin Powers meets James Bond!

The cast are fabulous actors and singers and the audience joined in from their very opening lines! Their renditions of infamous songs including ‘Hey we’re the Monkees’  and ‘Daydream Believer’ had us singing and clapping and were definitely feel good tunes!

Producer Dave McNeilly does a fantastic job of catching the very essence of The cult group, and everything form the set design, costumes and humour in the ‘clean cut spirit’ of the original Monkees!
