Mini Micro Scooter Review

Mini Micro Scooter

A high standard of safety thanks to its proximity to the ground, its simple steering mechanism and the three wheels which make it more stable.”

The mini micro is advertised as a scooter for children aged 2 to 5 years (20 kg max weight) with safety and simplicity being the key selling points.  The design is very appealing and I notice that since we bought one the brand has branched out to other designs, colours and various useful accessories. It is also compact and easy to carry (apparently the handlebars are easily removed although we have never tried or seen a need to do this given its compact design). Other similar products that I have seen (although not used) look clunky and less safe and hard wearing. I’m not surprised in the least that according to the mini micro UK website that the Swiss designed scooter has repeatedly been voted Toy of the Year.

We first acquired a mini micro for my eldest child when she was about 2 years old. The advantages of it were actually not immediately apparent as it took time for her to understand how to stop and use it independently and I was constantly paranoid that she would scoot into danger. However, once she was able to scoot and stop confidently (with the easy to use brake) and I had chilled out a bit – probably by the time she was 2 and a half – the mini micro (nicknamed ‘Scoot’ in our house) soon became (and continues to be) an essential and well used part of our daily kit often banishing the buggy to the house and certainly making the school run much less stressful, quicker (all important in the mornings!) and fun.

Now over 2 years on and with considerable unrelenting use through all kinds of weather, conditions (mud, grass, puddles) and treatment (tossed into the back of the car under a mountain of other kit or dragged along by the dog’s lead), ‘Scoot’ is still going strong. I am utterly amazing that nothing has broken as it gets very little TLC and as such I only have good things to say about it.

I noticed the popularity of this particular scooter when my daughter first started school. There is a designated place for scooters and almost all of them (and there are a lot!) are this brand. I think that this can only be because not only does it look good and is compact but it is durable, easy to use and safe.

However, most importantly of all, my daughter absolutely loves it and unlike many other items we have bought her, this has stood the test of time and although it seems quite pricey it actually provides excellent value for money. It makes walking the dog a pleasure as my daughter can keep up and enjoys scooting.

We have customized poor Scoot with various accessories, some less classy (cheerleader pom poms and horn) and more useful ones such as the micro mini bag (great for putting a snack and water in), light and glove warmers.

In summary, the micro mini is a fun, durable and easy to use piece of equipment that kids will love. Indeed, it is one of only a handful of products that I would actively say is a must for anyone with small children.

Hands down a 5 out of 5!
