If you are looking for a reasonable priced steakhouse in the Ruislip area but do not want to compromise on quality then you can look no further than the Miller & Carter Steakhouse in Ruislip.
It is situated in a leafy suburb just off Ruislip Woods in Bury Street not far from the Western Avenue (A40). Originally a Beefeaters pub/restaurant it had a full refurbishment in 2012 and as a result is left with a stylish and modern looking interior.
Upon arrival we were shown to our table which was situated near the open kitchen area of the restaurant on a table with comfy chairs and once settled down our waitress Radka brought us the menu and took our drinks order.
The restaurant has a varied seated selection which includes family/single/double tables as well as booths. With us having a young child as well as a baby we are always wary of how close our table is to fellow diners because let’s face it children are not the quietest customers when eating out. But we felt relaxed with the proximity and space around us and the staff where more than accommodating to our needs, making extra fuss of our 4 year old chatty boy whilst being dazzled by our 8 month old smiley daughter.
On Friday evening the restaurant had a buzzing feel to it, busy but not manic and there was always a friendly member off staff on hand to help.
Our drinks order arrived quickly and as a starter my partner and our son decided on a shared plate of garlic bread whilst I had dusted calamari with homemade garlic & chive mayonnaise. Both dishes where very enjoyable.
Whilst ordering the main we asked our waitress Radka for recommendations and she seem to have quite a good knowledge of all the different steaks on the menu.
It didn’t take long for our main dishes to arrive on our table. Our son had the “Make Your Own Burger” option from the kids menu and went with a plain burger with extra bacon and fries which was served with a little cup of ketchup much to his liking!
We also ordered the Shetland Salmon with mango, chilli & coriander salsa and gremolata crispy potatoes as well as the 12oz Rump medium cooked steak with thin fries.
Our waitress kindly pointed out that there are special steak extras to add on to your meal so we decided on a portion of creamed spinach & fried egg to accommodate the Salmon as well as the mac & cheese with the steak.
All 3 dishes where not only beautiful presented but also absolutely gorgeous in flavour especially the salmon with the salsa underneath it! The creamy spinach and egg accompanied my dish very well!
The rump steak was a generous size cooked to perfection with a peppercorn sauce. The mac & cheese was a great add on and my partner enjoyed it very much.
Even though the starters and main was very filling we decided to go for a desert to finish our evening off.
Whilst I went with the famous crème brûlée (which was very creamy and tasty) my other half and our son shared a plate off chocolate brownie with ice-cream. The generous sized warm brownie topped with chocolate sauce was more than enough to end the chocolate craving for the boys!
Kevin, the manager of the establishment was kind enough to take time out to have a little chat with us where we discovered that Miller & Carter just brought out a brand new menu last week where they have added on extra (bigger sized) steaks and other delicious meals.
As an overall judgment we would recommend the Miller & Carter Restaurant for several occasions because not only does the establishment cater for couples and families but they also able to house big group which makes it the perfect venue for the upcoming Christmas parties!
We will be certainly returning to this restaurant in the near future!
