As a chocolate connoisseur (self-proclaimed, of course!) I am always keen to try different brands of chocolate to find new favourites. I’m a relative novice when it comes to plant-based chocolate, so I was really interested to give a LoveRaw product a try and see how it compares with regular (dairy-based) chocolate!

I didn’t have to wait long before the package arrived, all neatly boxed inside an attractively decorated outer carton, all of which was recyclable. The item arrived in pristine condition. I liked the simplicity of the carton; it wasn’t overly fussy and it gave exactly the right amount of information I needed to know what was inside, that the product was plant-based and what the chocolates look like. The carton itself had a gold, white and black colour scheme, which I liked too.

I couldn’t wait to get that box open and take a peek inside, so in I went. I liked the fact that once opened, the box could be closed again, rather than left open, tempting you to eat them all at once. Inside the box I found 9 individually wrapped Nutty Choc Balls. I was a little disappointed that these were plastic-wrapped. I would have liked to have seen these wrapped in a more sustainable way, but I guess the wrappers can be recycled via a store with a single-use plastic recycling scheme.

The Nutty Choc Balls consist of a whole hazelnut, coated in hazelnut ‘cream’, encased in a wafer shell, covered with LoveRaw’s ‘milk’ chocolate and hazelnut pieces.

I can honestly say the chocolates were delicious and I really couldn’t tell the difference between these plant-based chocolates and the milk-based ones. I was really impressed with how they tasted and needless to say, they didn’t last very long! My husband and son ably assisted me in emptying the box and both thoroughly enjoyed them too. They’re perfect to share with family and friends, whilst watching a movie or just chilling out at home.

The Nutty Choc Balls have an RRP of £9.99 for this box of 9 individually wrapped chocolates, which I feel is a high price point for the amount of chocolates you get in the box. Although I enjoyed the taste of them, I’m not sure the price point would encourage me to make the switch from the milk-based version. In saying that, it’s fantastic that these plant-based chocolates are now available and can offer a delicious alternative for those requiring a special diet, broadening their choice. I have a friend who is dairy-free for health reasons and I know she’d really appreciate having more varieties of chocolates to choose from.

The LoveRaw Nutty Choc Balls would be a perfect Easter Gift for anyone in your life with or without a special dietary need. I think they’d be really well received and I would definitely love to receive a box!

LoveRaw started in 2013 with a mission to make vegan chocolate, which tasted like chocolate and was decadently indulgent and delicious. I consider this mission accomplished! They’ve certainly achieved what they set out to do. LoveRaw have a wide range offering vegan versions of mainstream chocolate favourites, which can be found here: https://eatloveraw.com/collections/vegan-chocolate

They offer free delivery on orders over £40, with delivery between 2-3 business days on average. For orders under £40, UK delivery costs £5.29 via DPD.
