This Littlest pet shop collectors set is the Farm Besties set. It includes 5 different animals – including a horse, chicken and a dog. Each cute animal has an accessory and they all have bobbly heads. They are very cute looking making them appealing to children to play with and collect. In total there are 65 animals to collect each with their own number – some rarer than others. There is a card included for one of the pets in the set that you can use to find out the personality of that pet and a coin that can be used to unlock other surprises. The animals can be bought in sets of which there are many in different sizes. They can also be bought individually so that children can increase their collection and choose which animals they would like.

My three grandchildren were here when I received this set which was good so that I could judge their reactions. I knew that my granddaughter who is 9 years old would love this as she really likes small toys, especially animals and those that are in sets and have many different ones that can be collected. She was very excited to open it and see what was included and wanted to take it home. I wasn’t so sure what the reaction of my other grandchildren – a grandson aged 4 and a granddaughter aged 2 would be. I thought that the 2 year old would bea little too young but she was intrigued and engaged as her older cousin showed her the pets. She liked to line them up, tell us what the animals were and also which one was her favourite. She was doing role play with little voices for the animals, making them talk to each other.

My grandson had a look at them all and said they were very cute but said he would leave them for the girls to play with as he was busy with something else. I know that he will come back to play with them when he is here on his own as he also likes little animal toys and will love the bobbly heads on them.

There is no age suggestion on the box but I would suggest that aged 3 – 9 would be suitable. This is a lovely little set which can be played with in isolation or added to make a bigger collection. Children can swap animals with friends if they have more than one of a particular animal and trying to find a rare animal can be exciting. The set is value for money and would make a lovely gift for a child.

The packaging is good although younger children may get inpatient while an adult is cutting the string holding the animals in place in the plastic tray – which maybe could be made from a recyclable material.
