What an evening we had at Milton Keynes Theatre last night (28 May 2018). We watched Legally Blonde the Musical, starring Rita Simons, Lucie Jones and Bill Ward; it was truly great.
I took my 14-year-old daughter along; we were both very excited to see the show, and it certainly did not disappoint.
As always, Milton Keynes Theatre was pleasure to visit. The location is easy to find, and parking is always hassle free and not too far from the theatre. The theatre is based in Central Milton Keynes, surrounded by several bars and popular restaurants.
As we arrived, we could not help but notice how busy the foyer was. We collected our tickets from the friendly staff at the box office, with no problems at all. We stopped at the kiosk for drinks and sweets; it was busy, but the staff were getting everyone served as quickly as possible. We found it quite expensive, but no higher than anywhere else. As we took to our seats, we sensed a great atmosphere. We were really happy with our seats and had a fantastic view; the theatre was filling up quickly.
From the minute the curtain went up, we were fixed. The singing and dancing throughout was flawless, and the eye catching colourful costumes were stunning. The show was full of so much energy, and the cast were all fantastic. There were many funny moments throughout, which had the audience laughing lots.
The story is based on the Legally Blonde novel by Amanda Brown, and the 2001 film. The storyline is about the beauty queen Elle Woods, who has everything but the man she wants because she is ‘not serious enough’. She heads to Harvard University to prove him wrong and win him back. But to Elle’s surprise, after her time at Harvard, she realises she is capable of winning so much more! We loved the film, but the show was even better.
The whole cast shone through, showing so much talent. But the most impressive performance of the evening came from 2009 X Factor finalist, Lucie Jones; she played Ellie Woods perfectly.
The finale was spectacular! The audience were clapping along, and truly enjoying themselves. It was lovely to see the cast receive a very well deserved standing ovation.
The show is not to be missed. It was pure entertainment from start to finish; we had a fabulous time.
Tickets cost from £15 to £53.50 (excluding fees).
