La Tasca Cardiff Review

La Tasca

So it’s date day. No kids, no work just me and the husband and a lovely day of shopping and lunch at La Tasca in the capital. We were excited to eat at La Tasca Cardiff as it is reminiscent of the early days of our relationship as many a date was spent at the Brewery Quarter in Cardiff. La Tasca is in the Brewery Quarter which is closely situated to the central shopping area of Cardiff but in a small piazza type area which house a number of restaurants and bars. Without the hustle and bustle of busy traffic it is a lovely escape in the heart of the city.

When we arrived at La Tasca we were greeted by a very friendly and well-presented member of staff who immediately showed us to a lovely table within the restaurant. As we arrived early during lunch service the restaurant had a quiet hum of activity that although increased during our visit was in no way intrusive to our lovely experience. Immediately our drinks order was taken by a very friendly and helpful waiter who also explained the menu fully. As an inexperienced tapas eater I really appreciated his explanation and advice. We are quite indecisive when choosing food and apart from knowing that we wanted Potato Brava we were very open to suggestions. We discussed with our waiter what other two choices we should make and upon his recommendation decided to be adventurous and try pork cheeks and king prawns in Garlic and Chilli.

I was a little apprehensive particularly at the trying of pork cheeks but this was very short lived. When our food arrived it looked beautiful and as for those pork cheeks they were to die for. The meat just melted in your mouth. My husband and I agreed that it was by far the nicest dish we’d ever tasted. With three tapas dishes between us we were full to bursting by the end. The waiter attentively popped back to check our meal was to our liking and that his menu suggestions hit the spot and it most certainly did. The ambience was laid back and relaxed. It really allowed us to fully enjoy our meal and each other’s company which is such a rare event when you are parents to 4 children. That being said I do plan to take our children there in the future as the restaurant has a lovely family feel too with an excellent children’s menu and the full provision of high chairs and baby change too. I would return there anytime and would really recommend it to friends and family.  We give the La Tasca Cardiff experience a truly scrumptious 5/5.
