We recently had the opportunity to interview the chef Ken Hom OBE. Here are our questions and his answers.
What do you most enjoy about your job?
That it is so changing and never the same. I can do TV, books, appearances, being a consultant, being a chef.
What has been your most memorable moment in the past 5 years?
First getting a doctorate from Oxford Brookes University and then an OBE from the Queen.
If you were stranded on a desert island and had 3 items of food, what would they be?
Chilli, garlic and ginger,
How will you be celebrating the Chinese New Year?
Being in the UK…….. appearing on TV, radio & the press …….. talking and celebrating chinese food.
What is your favourite food and why?
Probably peking duck because of the crispy skin and rich meat.
If you could change one thing in your life that's happened in the last 10 years what would it be?
I would not change anything!
If you were not a chef what would you be?
Probably a dancer.
How does it feel to have an OBE?
Very humble.
What advice would you give to someone wanting to work in the world of food?
Work in a restaurant first. You either will discover your passion or go on to something else.
