Iced coffee is a long standing favourite of mine. Before I had children, I used to spend hours in the kitchen making the perfect blend to enjoy luxuriously in my garden. Unfortunately, I just don’t have the time for that anymore but a summer without iced coffee is unthinkable and so I now enjoy ready made iced coffee beverages regularly.
I very much like Jimmy’s original iced coffee and was very interested to try the new BottleCanTM from Jimmy’s, which is aluminium and therefore infinitely recyclable. This is a welcome change from plastic bottles for obvious reasons, but also from ordinary cans which have to be drunk in one go. The shape of the bottle is comfortable to hold and to drink from and each one holds 275mL. It also pours nicely, in case you prefer to drink it from a glass when at home, and the lid screws back on easily. The artwork on the bottle is attractive. So much so, that once empty I feel reluctant to add them to the recycling as they’re so aesthetically appealing and now, everywhere you look there’s a little bunch of flowers stuffed in an empty Jimmy’s BottleCanTM. I’m all for reusing things though.
I really like the resealable aluminium BottleCanTM. It is a pressurised container and so I did have to get used to not shaking my iced coffee before opening it because this behaves just like any shaken can and I have had a few instances of spraying iced coffee over myself when I’ve forgotten. Not shaking it doesn’t seem to be a problem, there’s no obvious settling or separation of the drink which is probably due to it being under pressure.
Jimmy’s iced coffee is made very simply in Dorset using Rainforest alliance certified Arabica beans and semi skimmed milk, there’s a small amount of demerara sugar added but not much else. The flavour is nicely balanced and not overly sweet, it’s not like a coffee milkshake and is therefore perfect to enjoy as a summer drink in the garden. My favourite time to enjoy it is when we get home from school and the children are momentarily distracted by the toys they haven’t seen since the morning. I can see that Jimmy’s iced coffee is going to feature heavily in my summer holiday this year which will mostly be spent at home.
For me iced coffee is a drink to relax with as much as an on the go pick me up and so the flexibility of the resealable BottleCanTM really appeals. Having children means that I don’t always get to enjoy my relaxation without interruptions and so being able to screw the lid back on and stick it back in the fridge means that my iced coffee isn’t warm and swimming with flies by the time I get back to it. It’s also an interesting and popular addition to the drinks I have available to offer guests. Being quite out of practice at entertaining, a slight panic sets in when anyone comes round but luckily you can buy Jimmy’s iced coffee in a pack of 12 straight from their website and so my fridge is well stocked. You can even subscribe and save!
