What finer gift can you give to someone than the gift of happy feet? Sore feet is one of the banes of my life – I spent a lot of time on my feet and I struggle to find shoes that are both attractive and comfortable. I have a lot of very functional shoes, especially walking boots and trainers, but none of these are particularly suitable to wear with skirts or dresses. I do like a casual, relaxed look, but wouldn’t wear trainers anywhere but the gym, so have mostly settled for my Doc Martins for everyday wear. The thing is, they’re heavy and when you’re pulling them on and off multiple times a day, the laces can be a bit of a pain in the bum! I have been looking for a lightweight and quick to pull on and off shoe for ages now, but had never quite found anything that fitted the bill.
That was until I was sent a pair of Lea boots from the lovely folks at Hey Dude to try out! I had never heard of the company before, but maybe that’s because I was so stuck in my shoe-buying ways! Hey Dude sell a fabulous range of stylish smart casual and casual shoes and boots, in both subtle and bright colour options. I was sent the Lea Boot to try out, which is available in three colour options: Carbon (black), Coffee (mid-brown) and Oatmeal (light creamy-brown). The Lea Boot is constructed with man-made soles, PU upper with genuine leather trim and an incredibly comfortable memory foam footbed. The leather is a soft, suede-like material and the man-made sole means that the boot is beyond light, weighing in at 175g.
The boots look absolutely fabulous – they are right up my street, style-wise and look fantastic with either a pair of jeans, a denim skirt or a winter dress. The soles being cream provides a lovely contrast to the brown leather of the boot, but I particularly love the flecks of brown that have been added, which really tie the look of the boot together. The patterned inner adds a fashionable finishing touch too, and the whole look of the boot is just fantastic. All of the details on the boot are leather too, which is fantastic to see, and I love how the chunky lace tabs hold the elastic laces into place meaning that you can just slip the boot on and off quickly, but that your feet are held firmly in place and they don’t slip at all.
Wearing these honestly feels like walking on a cloud – they are some of the most comfortable shoes that I have ever worn. Because they are made from PU uppers with leather tabs and heel cups, they allow your feet to breathe, which means that they feel neither too warm or too cold; they are like Baby Bear’s porridge – just right! The boot move wonderfully with your feet as you walk and there are no pinch or pressure points at all. Unlike my Doc Martins which took weeks and weeks to wear in, these were absolutely perfect from the first time I wore them.
They are available in sizes 3 – 8, and they are a pretty generous. I am normally a women’s size 8 and these were on the bigger size for me, although not uncomfortably so and because they are a winter boot, I would always be wearing thicker socks in the winter anyway and it means that at least your feet don’t feel squished by a thick pair of socks in the winter.
These are a fantastic looking boot, they are beyond comfortable and they go with so many outfit options. They make a fantastic Christmas gift idea for a woman of any age and manage to be both trendy and classic at the same time. A massive 5/5 from me, and I will be turning to Hey Dude in future when I am looking for new shoes – what a fantastic discovery!
