My husband, three year old daughter and I visited The Willow Brook Harvester for dinner this evening. The Harvester is located in a great area just north of Bristol in Bradley Stoke in The Willow Brook Centre made up of eateries and a wide array of shops. There are plenty of free car parking spaces available just outside the restaurant including disabled and parent and child spaces.
The Willow Brook is one of the new style Harvesters which seem to be moving away from the classic pub image they once went for to a more family friendly modern style of restaurant. Straight away we noticed how clean and tidy the restaurant looked throughout. Upon entering the restaurant, we were greeted by the friendly hostess, Jess. Jess showed us to our seat, handed us our menus and informed us our waiter was Chris. My daughter was given crayons to accompany her menu which doubles up as an activity sheet. This is a great idea as it kept her entertained whilst waiting for the food to arrive and in between courses. Chris introduced himself and took our drinks order. He asked my daughter about her beloved teddy which instantly made her warm to him and Chris was careful to always interact with my daughter when he came to our table which was nice as she really enjoyed being included and ordering her own food. All of the staff we encountered were pleasant but Chris seemed to go above and beyond to ensure we were happy throughout our meal and even offering to refill our bottomless drinks even though this is usually self-serve in other restaurants.
The menu at Harvester is extensive with so many appealing options on it that I struggled to decide what to get. I love how they cater for people like me who can’t decide on one type of thing so offer various different combo meals. I ordered the Sticky Steak and Rib Combo, my husband opting for the Mixed Grill and my daughter getting the Southern Fried Chicken off the Kids Menu which also offers more than the usual limited children’s options. We were then pointed in the direction of the free salad bar to help ourselves to. The Harvester salad bar is amazing with a huge choice of everything you could ever want in a salad.
The food came out quite quickly and as soon as I had finished my huge bowl of salad, our dinner arrived. The food was presented nicely and there was plenty of it too! We all really enjoyed our meals with my daughter not making much of a dent in hers but this was more due to the fact the children’s meals are also very generously portioned.
After our table was cleared, we had a break before ordering dessert and the staff reassured us it wasn’t a problem which was nice as I have found in some restaurants the staff are constantly trying to hurry you up to free the table up for the next customer but we felt no sense of urgency at all despite it being a busy Saturday evening. For dessert we ordered the Cookie Dough, Caramel and Chocolate Fudge Brownie Stack and my daughter had a Sundae Best with strawberry sauce which comes as part of the kid’s meal deal. Once again, the food was delicious and the portions were a good size. We were absolutely full up by the end of the evening making the reasonably priced meals seem even better value for money.
The Willow Brook Harvester is brilliant for families as it offers a lovely evening or afternoon out with tasty food at a good price and is delivered to you with great customer service. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone who likes their food or enjoys a meal out in a friendly, unpretentious setting and I will definitely be returning soon.
