Hape Dynamo Dominoes Review

Who knew that dominoes could provide so many hours of fun and playtime as well as offering some educational value to boot? Since receiving the Hape Dynamo Dominoes for review the boys have played with them for hours on end, every single day and creating even larger and more complicated designs (adding in other dominoes and even using their train track pieces to create better designs).
The Hape Dynamo Dominoes are a wooden, brightly coloured dominoes set for building and knocking down dominoes trails. There are 100 dominoes in the set along with a bridge, bell, rails, ball etc. (107 pieces in total). There is no right or wrong way to build, the only limitation is the child’s imagination, so is a great tool for encouraging imaginative play, problem solving skills, spatial awareness, social skills, creative play along with developing fine motor skills and patience.
As mentioned earlier, these have been played with every single day and each day the designs from one of the twins (aged 6) are getting bigger and more elaborate. It has helped improve his fine motor skills, creative thinking and problem solving (with some tears along the way when he couldn’t quite create what he had in his mind). They are definitely his most favourite toy and he wants to take them everywhere.
The dominoes measure approx. 5.5 x 3.5 x 0.8cm so are perfect for small hands. The are quite light and come in seven colours (light blue, blue, green, orange, red, yellow and wood).
Once you have built your trail you then have the joy on knocking the dominoes over – by pushing with your finger or using the ball on the rails or the swinging bar provided in the set, and you can even add in the bell and stepped bridge to make your design a bit more unique, imaginative and fun!
Overall, this is a great set. Made from wood and water-based paint they are good quality, safe and just the right size. Not only do they provide hours of fun but also help with children’s fine motor skills, imagination, social skills by teaching working together, patience by working on your own, creative thinking skills, problem solving skills and design skills.
The boys have had hours upon hours of fun with these dominoes and have put them through a lot and they are still in great condition. A full 5 stars from them!
