Spring has arrived and Mother’s Day will soon be here, when we have the chance to appreciate our mums for all that they do for us. It’s always difficult to think of new gift ideas and I often tend to stick with flowers and chocolate, so I was delighted to be asked to review the Green People Soothing Hand Essentials Kit as a potential Mother’s Day Gift.
I hadn’t heard of the Green People brand before, so headed to the website to find out a bit more. Green People is a UK company, founded in 1997 and is a pioneering organic skin care brand specifically aimed at people with sensitive skin. They sell a huge range of natural skin care products aimed at the whole family, all of which are cruelty, alcohol and gluten free, along with being vegan. All of the products are also certified as being organic by the soil association.
The Green People products can be ordered via the website, with a very reasonable delivery charge of £3.50 for orders under £35 and free delivery for orders over this amount.
The Soothing Hand Essentials Kit arrived very well packaged in a cardboard box, carefully wrapped in tissue paper which really made it feel special. I liked the fact that the packaging could be recycled with no unnecessary plastic. The box said that they use 100% biodegradable corn starch nuggets, which dissolve in water, for packing although I didn’t have these in my order (probably as it was a small item).
The hand essentials kit was in a lovely vibrant pinky-purple box with images of flower petals in the background. The back showed pictures of the contents along with a list of ingredients for each item. The box was very sturdy with a magnetic fastening and I was immediately impressed with the quality. Inside the box were three 30ml tubes of soothing hand cream, all with different fragrances made from blends of essential oils with shea butter and squalene. The tubes looked nice and were good quality.
The three hand creams were:
Nourishing – with Ginger and Clove
Revitalising – with Mandarin and Ho Wood
Softening – with Rose and Geranium
All of the creams smelt different and were all fragrances that I would use and enjoy. My favourite was the Mandarin and Ho Wood, followed by the Ginger and Clove. The creams rubbed in to my hands very easily and a small amount goes a long way so I think the set will last for a long time. I found that the creams didn’t feel greasy, however my hands did feel slightly sticky immediately after using the cream. This seemed to wear off quickly though and left my hands feeling lovely and soft. The fragrance was also long-lasting which I particularly appreciated. I could even still smell it after washing my hands.
The Hand Essentials Kit would make a lovely Mother’s Day gift, the packaging makes this look very high quality, and the hand creams themselves are great. I would be delighted to receive this on Mother’s Day from my children and am planning on taking the set to work to keep on my desk so I can use it throughout the day. The price is quite high for the size of the products however for the quality I would say it was worth it as a treat or gift that will last for a good amount of time.
