Grangers Washing Items Product Review

I was thrilled to have the opportunity to try some of the Grangers products. As a brand, they have been providing eco-responsible products for nearly 90 years and as per their website, their ambition is to “defy the elements and being able to make any adventure possible.” Their products are designed to keep us “outside for longer” and to ensure that in doing so we stay fresh and clean. I was lucky enough to try Active Wash, Wash + Repel Down 2-in-1 and Wash + Repel Clothing 2-in-1.
Grangers Active Wash 750ml (rrp £9.95)
https://grangers.co.uk/products/active-wash I was lucky enough to have just got back from the gym when my parcel arrived, and after a very sweaty session I was glad to get it in the washing machine with the Grangers Active Wash.
The Active Wash is for use for all kinds of activewear, including sportswear, jackets, shin pads, cycling clothing and a vast range of sports equipment. What I did notice was that the drying time of my kit was seemingly quicker than normal, which is great when you want to wash and repeat. I liked the scent also. It wasn’t overpowering which was great so it didn’t distract me too much during my workout, but it smelt clean. I think this is the item that I will be using more regularly as today at the gym my kit smelled fresh!

This arrived in a new pouch which had 75% less packaging. It was easier to store than other “traditional” solid bottles. The smell of this in the pouch was stronger than the active wash, which I’m guessing is due to the types of material that it would be cleaning.
This 2-in-1 cleaning product cleans and also is designed to add repellency so I was looking forward to using this on my sleeping bag. Although it didn’t need reproofing as such, I could see the difference it made to the sleeping bag. Although this smell was quite strong in the pouch, it wasn’t overpowering once it had washed and dried. I have got the rest of my coats lined up and ready to wash after the Christmas period.

My raincoat gets used and abused daily and often needs to be washed so I was keen to see how my jackets reacted to this Wash + Repel. Grangers Wash + Repel 2-in1 is a reproofer as well as cleaner and is suitable for any type of breathable, waterproof clothing and membranes including Gore-Tex, eVent and FutureLight. This worked a treat for my rain jacket. I generally find that with my rain jacket; it loses its waterproofing and then smells fusty after a few wears in heavy rain. After washing, I could see the difference when taking it out of the washing machine, with the way the water droplets were sitting on the jacket. I can’t wait to see the longer term benefits of having specialist washing products.
I really like how the products are biodegradable, bluesign® approved formulations, and also that they are in 100% recycled, Ocean Prevented Plastic bottles. I can see one of the bottles is in 75% less packaging pouch and can only assume that Grangers would strive to make the rest of their products as plastic free as possible.
Based on my experience, I’m likely to purchase more items from Grangers, especially the wetsuit wash. It’s in my basket already to purchase after the winter is over. I never thought that I needed different types of laundry detergent for my Active wear and down-filled items. I always thought my current detergent was strong enough but these had added benefits, and the fact that they had the repel aspect included. I’m pleasantly surprised and looking forward to long term use of these Grangers products and more.
