GP Design beam – Penlight PP16 Review

Reviewed by Julie Jessup

My husband was very excited when he found out I was going to test out the GP Design PP16 penlight torch.

I have never known anyone to be so obsessed with torches. So he was very pleased when I asked him to try out this product for me, I thought he was very well placed to do this.

The box housing the torch also included 2x AAA batteries, so no added expense of having to purchase batteries separately.

Firstly, he was very impressed with the design, it is very lightweight, robust and durable. It is made out of aircraft grade aluminium with an anodized protective coating, this makes it very hard wearing and water proof. You can tell this straight away by touch. It is also anti-roll so it will not fall off the side once you have put it down.

You only require one hand to use it. Just be using one hand the light is specifically targeted this is due to the built-in focus mode. It is very bright; Lumens 140 and a beam distance of 55 metres.

The run time is a very impressive 3 hours 30 minutes on high power and up to 9 hours on low power.

The torch has a clip, so you can safety put it in a shirt pocket and it also has a wrist strap.

This torch has many uses including, map reading, hillwalking, fishing, the car and emergency lighting in the home.

GP Design produce a whole range of torches, they are detailed on their website This particular torch is a new product by GP Batteries

Compact, bright, robust and highly portable, all you could wish for in a penlight torch.
