It was a rainy Sunday morning when we visited The Good Food Show Spring. Held in the Harrogate International Centre, right in the centre of Harrogate, it is easily accessible by road or rail. There is limited parking at the centre itself, but many car parks close to the centre. We found a space easily in the Jubilee car park next door.

I had visited a Good Food show previously, but at the NEC in Birmingham, I was surprised to find out that there are now 8 BBC Good Food Show events throughout the year. They are based all over the country, from Scotland to London.

There were 4 halls all bursting at the seams with over 100 exhibitors offering everything from corkscrews to sausages! There were gadgets galore, cakes, wines, soft drinks, and of course free samples!

I particularly enjoyed the Deliciouslyorkshire area, which showcased local producers and services. I also found a few products and services that I never even knew I needed or wanted. Did you know you can order Lancashire Kippers by post?

Included in advance ticket prices is entrance to the Supertheatre, visitors can watch celebrities cooking live on stage. Mary Berry, Paul Hollywood, Hairy Bikers, James Martin and others could be found in the impressive Royal Hall. There was also the interview stage where free sessions took place featuring some of the top names. If that wasn’t enough celebrity chef spotting for you, WH Smiths also had a book shop and regular book signings throughout the day.

What I really enjoyed about the show was the space. Having visited these types of shows before I have always found them to be too busy and quite claustrophobic, but this was not the case at Harrogate. Maybe we went on the better day, as it was the last day, we did get some bargains from some stalls. I also liked how there were lots of places for a sit down and a cuppa. Another added bonus was a show goody bag, which included some free samples of some nice products.

We really enjoyed our day out, it was a lovely way to spend a Sunday.
