I was thrilled to be asked to review burger and cocktails at the Giraffe Restaurant in Brighton, I have been past a lot of times and always wanted to try it out so was looking forward to going.

It was easy to find as I knew the place already, it is close to the town centre and transport links if you didn’t though.

We were welcomed by Nikki who showed us to our table. She gave us the menu and explained the specials, then left us to decide.

The booth we were in was amazing, vinyl’s framed the walls and my husband, a big music fan, loved looking at them all and was pleased with the music playing. I was happy the music wasn’t too loud to be able to have a conversation, I find this a lot when I dine out.

Jonathan then came to our table and talked us through the menu and what he had ate and liked, what was most popular etc… He was very attentive and a pleasure to talk to. He had a way with all the customers and you could see he really enjoyed his job, nothing was too much trouble.

We decided to go with Jonathan’s suggestion of Mozzarella and Facaccio chips for starter, I had tried something similar in different restaurant but these were truly amazing! Big thick chips with Mozzarella inside, I would recommend getting your own and not sharing as we did!

For our main my husband had Rodeo Burger which consisted of a beef burger, onion rings, bacon and cheese in a poppy seed bun which he through was amazing. I had The American which was a beef burger, cheese and bacon which was very tasty, I don’t normally eat meat but found it to be lovely.

I did find a lack of vegetarian opinions for burgers which I was disappointed which as normally I do not eat meat

Jonathan recommended sweet potato fries which were heaven on earth! You have to try them! He also got us to try Mac ‘n’ Cheese wheel which is macaroni in crispy bread crumbs, sadly I was not a big fan of this but it did seem a lot of customers were ordering it and it was a popular choice.

For dessert my husband had chocolate chunk brownie which he adored and wanted more! I had a popcorn sundae which was banana, chocolate, pieces of popcorn and cream. It was a delight, I thought the popcorn would get soggy but they remained, my husband was very jealous!

I found all the food reasonably priced and you got a lot for your money! We also arrived at happy hour so some drinks were half price!

Most of the customers I saw were young students which made sense as it is a very jazzy people to be and be seen it seemed but I did see a few families there so it is a place for everyone and nothing is too much for these lovely staff! Excellent customer service, especially Jonathan who made us feel part of the family!

We cannot wait to return!

My only negative comments are about the toilets which are under the bar and a bit dark and gloomy, also there were only two toilets and one didn’t have a lock on.

Rating: 5/5 thumbs_up
