The first thing I noticed when I received my Frugi TotsBots EasiFit nappies in the post was that the attractive packaging was all plastic free, the outer was made of stitched paper and the bag containing the nappies within is starch based and compostable. This was a very good start.

I bought my first TotsBots EasiFit nappies in 2012 and they’ve been in almost continuous use since then so it was a real treat for my current baby to have a brand new nappy for herself. She was extremely happy with the bright patterns on the outside of the nappy and her older siblings expressed a sadness that they hadn’t got to wear the bee nappy and the tractor nappy themselves. My original nappies are of an older design but are only recently beginning to show signs of wear and so I feel that opting for reusable nappies was a good investment.

The nappies themselves are beautiful, the waterproof outer is printed in designs which appeal to babies and parents alike and make nappy changing that little bit more fun. They aren’t plastic feeling and they don’t rustle much. The bamboo inside feels very soft and absorbent. The nappy is a good shape for my baby with comfortable elastic around the legs and large Velcro tabs which ensure a good snug fit. Although it seems ridiculous that these nappies will fit right through to potty training, doing up the poppers running along the front of the nappy shrinks it down so that they really do fit well as soon as the baby is slightly bigger than newborn. By adjusting the position the poppers are done up in, you can increase the size of the nappy so that it fits right through to toddlerhood. They are quick to put on and easy to do up, both essential when dealing with a wriggly baby. Also being one piece nappies, they’re nice to use as you don’t need to preassemble them except for folding the inners back in after washing.

I absolutely love the fact that the polyester outer is now made with 100% recycled polyester made from drinks bottles and each nappy saves two bottles from landfill on top of the hundreds of disposable nappies that it also prevents from being wasted during it’s lifetime. These newer design TotsBots EasiFits feel thicker than my old nappies ever were, and even after only two washes they’re lasting well during wear and not leaking, they can hold up to 385mL.

Conveniently they unfold themselves in the washing machine so you don’t need to touch them much once soiled and they dry reasonably quickly on the washing line or overnight on a dryer. Much faster than many bamboo nappies I’ve tried and this can be a real barrier to using cloth because nobody wants to have nappies that you can’t use for 2-3 days because they’re clean but still damp! They wash very well and don’t stain easily, I do use fleece liners to help prevent stains and for ease of cleaning, but the Totsbots Easifit nappies seem much more resistant to staining than some of my other brands of cloth nappy.

To summarise, they fit comfortably, look adorable, aren’t bulky or terribly difficult for the baby to move about in, they don’t leave red marks around squishy little thighs or tummies. They wash well and help to save the planet, once I’ve finished using my Frugi TotsBots EasiFit nappies I shall pass them on to another baby. I can’t fail to recommend them.
