We visited Frankie & Benny’s restaurant in St Anne’s Street, Manchester for a lunchtime meal. I was accompanied by my mum, my daughter who is 2 and son of 7 months.

The restaurant is located in the heart of Manchester Town Centre. There are many parking facilities close by. We chose to park in the M&S car park for 2 hours which is £4.

The restaurant is located just after St Anne’s Church. It was easy to find and in a very nice location.

We were greeted on entry and shown to our booth. A high hair was provided and menus brought over and drinks order taken straight away which was great. We had two cokes and a juice for my daughter.

Helen, the lady who served us was very friendly and very helpful. My daughter was given an activity book which was great whilst we waited for our food. It contained colouring pencils and a farm animal set to make. We were given a good few minutes to choose out meal.

We ordered a starter and a main each and Anna had a children’s meal which came with a drink and icecream. This was priced at £4.95. We thought this was excellent value. There was a lot for her to choose from but she chose sausage and mash with beans. We were also asked whether we would like a baby meal for my son but we declined as he could share Anna’s. We thought this was a good service to offer though and priced at £1.95 this is excellent.

For starters we chose loaded potato skins and garlic mush rooms both £2.95, for main the Philly burger and the bacon and cheese burger both with fries.

Helen asked whether we wanted the children’s meal with the starters. We did and this was a great idea. Our starters arrived within 15 minutes of placing the order along with Anna’s meal. Everything was very nice and well presented on the plate.

The mushrooms were plentiful along with some garlic ciabatta pieces and the skins were tasty. Everything was served hot. Anna’s meal was very big and had two large sausages which she shared with her brother. The beans came in a separate dish which was good as she didn’t want them on the plate but ate them separately.

Our plates were taken away swiftly and another coke was made for me. Our burgers arrived swiftly too. They were priced at £6.95 and £7.95. We both felt we would be happy to pay this price as they were big and came with fries. I would have liked to see a small portion of salad on the plate too but his was not how it came. Both burgers were very tasty and loaded with jalapeño and Philly sauce and bacon and cheese. They were of good size and hot. The chips were also a generous portion.

My daughter’s ice cream came to finish off and she enjoyed this thoroughly. It came with a little bag of buttons and she was very happy. We all had a taste of the ice cream and it was very nice and creamy. It came with a side serving of chocolate sauce. There was plenty of it too in the dish.

If you like ice cream, Frankie & Benny’s also have the Ice Cream Candy Shop – a bowl with2 scoops ice cream served with little pots of sweets so you can create your own flavour and a jug of chocolate sauce. If you have any leftover sweets a small bag is supplied so that you can take the leftover sweets with you. This is a big hit with the children (and I venture to guess, with some adults as well). The Ice Cream Candy Shop costs just £1.95!

A very nice male waiter also bought over some balloons which was very much appreciated as my daughter and son loved them.

We also used the toilets whilst we were the there. They were located at the back of the restaurant and down some stairs. I’m not sure how it’s accessible for disabled people although there may have been other access. There was a light out in one of the cubicles though and there was only two cubicles. They were very clean and fresh though.

We were served two cappuccinos before leaving and they were of good size and very enjoyable.

On the whole we really enjoyed our lunch time meal. There was a good selection of things on both the adult and children’s menu. Everything was priced quite fairly for what you get which is a nice restaurant experience. Its location is great for shopping before or afterwards and the staff were very friendly to all guests. We would recommend highly, especially for children.
