Frankie & Benny’s Eagles Meadow Wrexham Review

Reviewed by Sarah Kerr

On Thursday 19 August at 1pm my partner and I along with our two children (aged 4 and 9 months) went to review Frankie and Benny’s in Eagles Meadow, Wrexham. Once we went inside we were greeted by a member of staff who politely asked us to wait by the bar area for a few minutes until our table was ready. We got offered the choice to have a table that we could take the pram or to one without, we said without was fine as our pram is quite big so we could carry our 9 month old. Within a few minutes the member of staff came and told us that our table was ready and showed us where to park up our pram and even offered to carry our changing bag (with our messy 4 year old too it was not a small bag).

Once at the table the member of staff asked if she could get us any drink and some garlic dough balls whilst we read through the menu, we thanked her for the offer of the garlic dough balls but we declined as our 4 year old would fill up on them and not eat his dinner. Our son quickly got out his toy trains to play until we showed him the activity pack which kept him entertained until my partner and I had decided what we wanted to eat. The menu had a great selection of food but it was not overwhelming like other restaurants we have been to in the past. My partner chose the half chicken and half ribs with chips and I chose the New York chicken burger. For our four year old we chose the chicken nuggets, chips and vegetables and for our 9 month old we chose the fish fingers, chips and salad. We also got a side of cheesy garlic bread.

During our wait for our food our four year old dropped one of his trains on the floor as a member of staff was walking past and she kindly picked it up and passed it back to him.

I was quite surprised how quick our food arrived as Frankie & Benny’s was very busy with it being GCSE results day. Another member of staff served our food and asked if we would like some more refills. Midway into our meals the waitress asked if everything was okay, which it was and asked if she could get us anything else.

The food was amazing even my partner wondered how he was going to get through it all with the portion size. Everything was cooked to perfection and really nicely presented on the plates. After eating and when we had all finished the waitress came over to clear the plates, my partner got down to clean under the highchair because our 9 month old made a mess and we always feel bad leaving a mess but she told him not to worry about it and left to get a little dustpan and brush, she was so nice and quick cleaning up the mess. She then offered us the desert menus which we took.

My partner and I ordered the chocolate fudge cake with ice cream. The portion size was amazing, I could not finish it. I have to admit it was the nicest I have had and the ice cream was lovely! Our four year old had an amazing combination called a Candy Shop. Our son thought this was awesome – as did we. It came in a wooden box and had a bowl of ice cream and 3 glass bottles of different sweets, a little bowl of marshmallows, another with chocolate sauce and some popping candy. This really amused him and he had so much fun pouring the different sweets into his bowl and eating them. Our 9 month old had a fruit salad that she really enjoyed, all the fruit was cut into perfect sizes for her to eat at ease (with no choking) it all looked very fresh too!

Again we were asked if everything was okay and if we would like anything else and if we would like our drinks refilled.

Frankie & Benny’s is unique and there is a nice friendly atmosphere from the moment you walk in. This is also added to by the retro music and decor. Despite how busy it was every table seemed to be being really well attended to by happy and pleasant staff. Both male and female toilets were really bright and clean. It was nice to note that the baby changing facilities were in the disabled toilet not the ladies so my partner was also able to take our 9 month old.

We all had a truly amazing family meal and experience. We have already recommended it to our family and friends. We will definitely be back in the near future.
