Fatherson Bakery was established in 2007 when 2 fathers and their sons fired up the ovens with the desire to deliver the finest quality handmade, hand decorated cakes which still to this day remain as strong as ever.

They went on to expand with more ovens and more products but their bakers still train and work to the same high standards as the very early days.

The Fatherson family take great pride in their baking. They strive to source their ingredients locally and sustainably. Using British sugar, award winning british flour, and local supplier of eggs.  I was given the opportunity to review Fatherson Bakery and who can say no to testing some cake treats.

I was asked to choose a few items I would like to receive to try, but that task was near on impossible when I searched the product categories, various cake choices, loaf cakes, tarts, buns, cupcakes,, tray bakes, fruit pies, all with a choice of different flavours. I also noted their were also a few vegan and vegetarian bar options. The amount of cakes I liked from the selection was incredible therefore I opted for choosing the cakes I liked the most and left it up to Fatherson Bakery to surprise me. (Editor’s note – The reviewer was doing a review so was sent a selection of products)

I was most certainly not disappointed upon the arrival, on opening the box I had been sent the following;
• Mini Lemon Drizzle Cake (5” long) – £4.00
• Mini Rich Fruit Loaf – (5” long) £4.00
• Vanilla Butterfly Cakes (X6) – £3.50
• Traditional Victoria Sponge (908g) – £6.50

The cakes had all been well packaged and arrived in one piece, the cakes were individually clear wrapped, the buns arrived in a clear blister pack. The packaging is also 100% recyclable, Not only that but they state they also recycle everything with zero landfill waste.

The cakes came with at least a two week shelf life, the fruit cake had a use by date of four months, it made me giggle, who can keep cake that long without eating it! Plus the hubby is rather partial to fruit cake. Good to know though so you can buy multiple items without the fear they will not last. But then I thought would they taste like shop/supermarket bought cakes due to their shelf life, the answer to that is a big no. They had the taste of freshly made cake straight from the bakery. Moist sponge with the most delicious taste, I certainly enjoyed testing them, not sure my waistline will think the same.

I looked up on how to order and found it is really easy, you firstly need to create an account on the Fatherson Bakery website, add your chosen items to the basket, then go to checkout, you could even send the cakes as a gift by entering the delivery address you would like them sent too, there are delivery charges applicable dependent on the weight of the chosen items as stated below: Delivery is between 1-3 business days. You also have the option to collect if local to Alcester where they are based.
