Tis the season for Christmas parties! That means little black dresses and a bouncy blow dry.

With the current cost of living, for a lot of us going to the hairdresser is now a luxury. So, I am always on the lookout for products and tools that will give me the same bouncy blow out but without the weekly trip to the stylist!

I have tried multiple tools, some better than others – but none have really given me that “done by a professional” look.

As a product guru, can you imagine my delight when I was sent the Drybar “The Triple Shot Interchangeable Blow-Dryer Brush” to review?

It arrived in a sturdy storage box, really easy to access. The box contains the handle, a paddle brush attachment, a round brush attachment and an oval brush attachment. It also contains instructions and a simple but useful storage bag. The storage bag will be great if you plan on taking the hair tool away, but otherwise the box is a great size to keep it in and feels super protective.

The selection of brushes are designed to achieve different looks: the smallest of the 3 creates waves and curls, the oval shaped one creates volume, and the paddle brush can be used if you are going for a straight, sleek look.

The cord is a decent length which is always an important one for me – I can’t stand feeling restricted when trying to do my hair, especially when I am trying to get volume in it.

I was also pleasantly surprised with how lightweight the tool is. As someone with long, thick hair, this was a welcome feature. Nothing worse than a bulky drier that leaves you with aching arms before you’ve even finished.

It’s really easy to switch between styling heads too – I found this particularly useful as I switched between the oval brush and the round brush to get different textures through my hair.

The brush has 3 heat settings which are easily controlled by a smooth twist of the bottom of the handle. The heat options are a great touch as they allow you to decide how much heat to expose your hair to based on your hair type/condition.

For the best results, The Drybar Triple Shot is for use on damp hair – I found leaving it to dry naturally or blasting it roughly until about 80/90% dry and THEN styling with this tool worked best for my hair. If yours is shorter or finer, it would probably be fine using on wetter hair. I’ve also used it on fully dry hair (with heat protection) just to refresh a few day old hair.

When using the brush, I did feel like it was pulling my hair which was a worry. But upon inspection, there was very little hair in the brush once I had finished styling it.

I have used a similar brush to this, one by a different manufacturer and I have to say that this one wins hands down. It gave a much smoother look, and the smaller brush allowed a more polished blow out look. And compared to some other well known brand, this is a much more affordable alternative that gives great results.

If you have a hair tool mad relative or friend in your life, this would make a great Christmas gift it’s within your budget.
