I was asked to review Jersey Boys, the musical, at the Theatre Royal in Glasgow and “Oh, what a night” we had. Jersey Boys is the story of Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons. It isn’t just an ordinary jukebox musical but rather a feel good look back at the 60s with a great soundtrack that you will be sure to remember.

This was a fast paced ,high energy performance from a terrific cast full of hit songs, dancing and a storyline that was funny, moving, uplifting and inspiring.

The part of Frankie Valli was excellently played by Matt Corner who did an exceptional job of replicating Frankie’s unique tones and fantastic range.

Sam Ferriday had a standout performance as the young song writer Bob Gaudio, and along with Lewis Griffiths playing Nick Massi and Stephen Webb as Tommy DeVito you will be laughing, clapping and I challenge anyone not to feel the urge to take to their feet during numbers such as “Oh What a Night” and “Working My Way Back to You”.

The absorbing storyline will have you gripped and you will be surprised at the amount of hit songs that you recognise. I would totally recommend that you grab yourself a ticket ranging from £17.90 to £70.40, take someone with you for a great night out, although not suitable for children as there is strong language throughout which adds to the storyline and in my opinion is totally acceptable in order to give this uplifting, funny, nostalgic look back at this 60s group full justice.

The show runs till 3rd of January at the Theatre Royal in Glasgow. An outstanding venue full of theatrical history and a great feel.

A great alternative festive night out that will leave you feeling uplifted and ready to continue with your night in an upbeat mood.

A great big 5 out of 5 from me.
