Long Loop Convertible Dress

Reviewed by Debbie Talbot

My 16-year-old niece has amassed quite the wardrobe of lovely garments over the years. I therefore jumped at the chance of reviewing a Loop Dress from Dessy with her. I had not heard of Dessy before so I had a good look at their website to find out more about the company. I was amazed to find out that Dessy group started out around 80 years ago back in 1939. It was originally known as A & M Rosenthal. The company started out life producing bridal veils and headpieces but later branched out into bridal and bridesmaid dresses. Later on, social occasion dresses and menswear were added to Dessy’s range. Their corporate headquarters are based in New York, USA.

My niece had a look at the Dessy website in order to make her choice between a long loop convertible dress and a midi loop convertible dress. Both look amazing, but she opted for the long style dress.

There are 7 stunning colours to choose from:

  • Cabernet
  • Dusty Rose
  • Silverstone
  • Sofia Blue
  • Desert Rose
  • English rose
  • Black

She opted for cabernet, which is a lovely deep burgundy colour.

The dress arrived quickly in perfect condition. It consisted of the main dress and a piece of material which converts the dress into 13 different styles and ways to wear.

I decided to read up on Dessy’s website about this piece of material. It’s described as a coordinating double layer eternity scarf. The website explains that its aim is to create beautiful and individual necklines and sleeves that are feminine and flattering for all body types.

My niece is a slim size 6, the dress looks amazing on her. I am larger and think that the style would also suit my body shape and type. My sister tends to like clothing which is easy to take care of day to day. She was no doubt delighted that this stunning dress is not just machine washable but also tumble dryer safe and crinkle free, which also makes the dress perfect for traveling. You can even buy 2 different dresses and use the eternity scarf from one with the main dress part of another. I think that the black and cabernet dresses would look beautiful coordinated in this way.

The material of the dress is 100% polyester. The dress itself feels lovely and is clearly well made and of good quality. The styling guide included with the dress is easy to follow in order to create the many style possibilities which this clever dress offers.

This dress would be excellent as either a bridesmaid dress (particularly for weddings abroad because of it being crinkle free, machine washable and tumble dryer safe) or as a dress for a formal occasion such as a prom or Christmas party. Prom dresses can run into hundreds of pounds and at £124 this stunning versatile dress represents really good value. You could actually wear it a different way to a later special occasion.

This dress would make a wonderful Christmas Gift for someone special in your life or even as a treat to yourself during the festive period. I would buy this dress in another colour or in the shorter midi style. It is so simple and understated yet is exquisite and classy.
